Realistic Daily Goals
After going through Certification Course 2, I became very excited about lowering my rank and helping out others at the same time. I did this for a few weeks, but got so bogged down helping others, that I found little time moving forward in certification course 3. So what shall I do?
With some thought I have decided to place my priorities straight. I want to start of spending one to 3 hours first working on my certification. This may not seem like the golden rule, but in the long path down the road it is following the golden rule. The more I know about the lesson in the certification, the more I will be able to help out others along with my self. I can then answer many more of their questions.
So here is what I plan to do. First, spend one to 3 hours on certification. After 2 or 3 lesson work on my website. Especially writing new posts. Next hour or 2 I plan to: 1. Go through unanswered posts. 2. Welcome new WA members. 3. Help people with questions in live chat 4. Ask for help when I need it. 5. Be responsive to any notifications.
I will try this for a few weeks and see how it works out. Also, be versatile, get help from you and others, and learn from my mistakes. What do you think? Help me out if you can. Let me know.
Hope this can help you as well.

Its so funny that you wrote this article because I have come to the end course 2 and was just thinking the same thing. How to prioritize my time not only to learn but be part of the community as well. And after reading your plan, I will say that mine went out the window, and if you don't mind, I will be following yours.
Thanks for sharing, wish you the best of luck

Great post, Doug. I think I've been getting my priorities a little wrong and this has helped me to focus a bit more on them. I've been here 5 weeks and am watching my rank lower quite considerably day by day through interacting in the community Whilst very satisfying on the one hand, this 'techie' stuff that I'm learning is very new to me and my worry is that if I end up in the top tier ranking too soon, I will not be able to live up to people's expectations of me in regard to how much I will be able to help them. I have to concentrate on the trainings more. I enjoy the interaction but lowering my rank is not what is going to earn me the money I wish to earn. All things in their own time but at times I need reminding that I can't do it all at once. Thanks for reminding me! :-)
