The Best Holiday, Time To Make Your Resolution!

The holidays with my family were one of the best ever. It was one of the best because of the Love and connections I felt from everyone.Not just my immediate family, but my larger family as well. Maybe I’m growing and more aware of the Love shared with each other. Maybe we are all lifting our spirits to a better place so we can experience the more important parts of the holidays. Starting with Thanksgiving this year and moving right through to the New Year’s celebration I have felt a difference.

Gifts are an important part of Christmas. The wise men brought gifts to the Christ child and the precedent was set. It was an expression of Love then and it is now. We need to keep the focus on the fact that it is an expression of our Love and not our pocketbook. Some get this out of proportion but most don’t.Not to worry, they will learn and will come along eventually. Love is the true gift we can give one another and ourselves.

Now that we have gotten past the holidays (or Holy Days which is where we get the word holiday) we can focus on the rest of our list. We can move on to our resolutions. That is what the New Year is for, to correct, fix and/or improve our lives the way we, or some others, think we should.

It is important to consider the power of the past couple of weeks and allow that to fuel the things that we want to do in the coming months. Some might want to say that it was a “Christian only” holiday. Some on both sides, as if there are only two sides, one wants exclusion with “their” holiday and some want no part of a holiday they don’t believe in.

Let’s look at the big picture. Regardless of the origins of this event, of which there are many, the big picture of this time is about Love and giving and family, blood related or not. Richard Bach in his book, Illusions, writes that, “The members of your True Family are not necessarily blood related.” The point being is whether or not you believe in this particular holiday or not the important thing is the inclusion of all of us.All of us can share the Love and compassion for each other. This is what it is all about.This is what Life is all about.

Too many hold fast to the illusion of “us and them” and are using up energy attacking all of the “thems” instead of bringing compassion and unity into the world. The illusion is that we are separate. We are not.That is why all the hate only brings more fear into the world instead of resolution.

So back to resolutions. New Year is the typical time we look at what we need to work on for the new beginning. Maybe, just maybe, we can start to look at more inclusion and compassion in our world. Start bringing an awareness of “us” instead of separateness. A resolution of inclusion would begin to change your world and then move out and make a difference in the entire world.

As we shift our awareness into one of compassion we will have more energy to improve other areas of our lives. We will find that every area will improve because we will be more at peace with those around us.

This compassion needs to start with ourselves. As we learn to Love ourselves, we will be able to Love others and bring that Love to all we do. So, bring the Love and compassion that we felt during the holidays and use that energy throughout the year and you will see that the rest of your resolutions will be easier to accomplish!

A family working together and helping each other achieve the best life possible.
