How I Found My Niche
I started with WA last October and to be honest..... it took me until January to find my niche. The funny part is that it was right in front of me all the time, I just didn't see it. Like not seeing the forest because of all the trees. But I learned something from it. I had spent the last 30 years making cheese, and I built my own dairy business. But due to a lot of hardship involved, I lost my passion for it a bit and I often wondered if there isn't anything easier to do. When I found WA and affiliate marketing I found out soon enough that there are easier ways to make a living. Anyways, for my first niche I chose dogs, because we had always dogs and my wife is into dogs, but when I wrote my first article, it took me forever to put it together and when I showed it to my business partner she said, that this wasn't a good blog. Well, the reason was, despite me liking dogs, I am not truly into it. I had to do endless research for each blog and my writing wasn't flowing. So, I chose the next niche which was games, board games, outdoor games and stuff like that. Considering the situation the world is in now, I think this actually could have been a pretty good niche. However, when I wrote my first article, it took me an entire day, I just didn't have enough knowledge and despite me liking playing games, I am not truly into it. The article sucked, and I knew it. After the new year all at a sudden it dawned on me. Why I don't know, but I woke up one day and realized that my niche should be cheese. I spent the last 30 years around cheese and I know everything about it. I think I didn't think about it earlier because I associated cheese and dairy with endless hardship. But when I wrote my first article, I completed it in half an hour and once I was done, I immediately made a list of blog ideas....3 pages long. The writing was flowing, the ideas and experiences from 30 years popped into my head. Writing was easy, research minimal. Now 10 weeks later, my website is up and loaded with content, it has a few affiliate links and I got regular traffic. I think when you choose a niche, you have to make sure that writing blogs flows naturally and is fun. When writing is a chore, I would suggest changing the niche. Above I mentioned how I had lost my passion for cheese during the years of struggling to build a business. Now, after starting my website, I am getting the passion back. So, I didn't necessarily choose my niche after a passion, but after my knowledge and the passion followed. Further I believe that you shouldn't choose the niche just looking at what pays best, but what feels best. I truly believe that the money will follow. All the best to all in these weird times... I think we are in the right kind of business. Have fun writing!
