How Soon After Being Put On Hold Do You Hang Up?
Yesterday, I got a craving for some Chinese food(house special fried rice is one of my favorite foods) and decided to call my local Chinese restaurant to order some for my family. As soon as I dialed, after the first ring, they picked up and immediately put me on hold.
I couldn't believe it! I didn't get a greeting; I was just put on hold and expected to wait until they were no longer busy to take my order.
Well as soon as I was put on hold, I had a flashback of the last time I had ordered food from this place, and decided they were not worthy of my money; especially after being put on hold.
Now, I may seem a little pretentious because I disliked being put on hold, but hear me out... when this particular restaurant puts you on hold, they literally put the receiver down on the counter so that you can hear their conversations! So I knew they weren't busy with other customers, they just assumed that because I wanted to eat their food, I would wait as long as possible to receive their service.
The reason I am sharing this with you is because this can totally relate to responding to comments on your website promptly. If a visitor asks you a question about a product they might be interested in , you making them wait for that information could cost you a commission. I am guilty of this, but I usually try to respond within 24 hours. Any longer than that and chances are, they've already forgotten about your site.
So think about that the next time one of your posts receives a comment... how long will they be put on hold before they move on?

Me too, Guilty of slow return of replies
Now, some of us out there still have not made the grade wherewith we can tell our bosses where they should go on their next permanent vacation.
Some of us still juggle between 2 jobs. plus do WA .. hoping for that great day to come asap.
Now, there also some people, who have sites up that are bringing in some livable income and commission; who do dedicate 5 hours a day answering replies.
Big congrats to them.

To me, that is a matter of ownership.
A business owner would give an indication to you that there was a bottle neck situation
Business Owners care about their following.
An employee.mindset .. only do what is needed to satisfy their quota.

Very good analogy I try and get to my comments asap
I try my best as well. But sometimes I will receive comments when I'm not home or out of town, so it might take a while for me to get to them. I prefer to respond to my comments on my computer than my iPhone.
