If you were interested in applying for a job of mechanical means, you would probably be required to take a mechanical test to see if you qualify. Examples would be electrician, plumber, engineer, machine operator, etc.

Aptitude is the natural ability to do something or to learn something.

In my particular situation I passed the test without taking an aptitude test by personally engineering and assembling a large metal finishing company by using the techniques and tools to do so. My experience was acquired through mechanical projects at a younger age prior to the metal finishing company. As for what aptitude stands for, I had the natural aptitude. If you don't have a natural mechanical aptitude then a test like I said would more than likely be the first step before acquiring a job.
