Get Up, Get into It, Get Involved.

Hello all! I have been here at Wealthy Affiliate for a few months now, but this is my first blog post. I bombed through the initial training and then went away and got my head down creating content and fleshing out my website.

As such, I haven't really been contributing or getting involved with the WA community, apart from a comment here and there, but I want to change that!

I'm bad with social networking in general and have never been entirely comfortable with it- I use Facebook to keep in touch with people who live far away or contact people through private messaging... But, I never post anything or have anything of a social presence...

I realised that I've been acting the same way with WA...

I've been a user! I've been spending my time busily working on my own thing and then, whenever I have a question or an issue, I simply log on to WA and look it up- chances are someone has already asked my question or posted a blog/training/video about it, so why bother getting involved?!

BUT, that is not what WA is about! One of the best things about WA is the community, the social interaction, and the on-going flow of help and support that members offer one another. I have most definitely benefitted from this, but I have not yet contributed to it!

I've also realised that getting to grips with, and getting involved with, the social interaction and social networking side of WA will be hugely advantageous when it comes to our own websites.

However, another issue I've had is this kind of thinking: "I'm no authority! I'm new here, and I don't want to give bad advice!" But, it's a learning curve for us all and it's not like we're alone! Even as a novice we can offer our thoughts and opinions.

Any advice we give helps us to learn and grow as well- and I'd like to think that most of us have foresight enough not to offer any duff advice beyond our expertise! Although, even when this does happen there are plenty of experts on hand to correct the mistakes! Our safety net: The WA community!

I feel very lucky to have found Wealthy Affiliate. However, I am inclined to think that, rather than my good luck, it is in fact Kyle and Carson's hard work that have brought me, and all of you, here! After all, they know what we're looking for and exactly how to target it- and that's the very knowledge they're imparting to us!

So, my aim now is, as James Brown said:

GET UP, GET INTO IT, GET INVOLVED!

I have 100 questions for you all... and now I'm going to actually start asking them! I'd also like all of you to think that you can ask me for help or ask me any questions as well!

Cheers,

Dom

Hi Dom--Yup, I'm not a "Facebook" kinda gal. For some reason, though, I find it easier to interact on this site. I think because we're all trying to do something concrete here and so when we post a comment it's because we have something to say that may help ourselves or others along.

I completely agree! Now that I've actually started to interact at WA I definitely find it easier than the likes of Facebook. It's such a friendly and enriching community- we all want to do well here and its in our best interests to help each other to do well, as well as being very rewarding!

Hi Dom. In general - with social networking media like Facebook - I feel exactly like you. And, as you say, you can learn a lot just from reading answers to other people's questions. But with WA I simply love the social aspect. For you, I think you actually got your priorities right. You first did the training and took action yourself and now you have experience, you can offer advice with more confidence.

Thanks Isabella! I'm glad you feel the same way- I'm starting to love the social aspect of WA too! Also, helpful and encouraging comments like yours definitely help with boosting confidence! Thanks, Dom.

Get involved. Everyone here is helpful and nice people. A lot of people blog about life experiences, what they learned about a particular subject or something with their website. I blog to share information I know or about my progress. It can that easy. Thank you for sharing. I wish you the best.

Well I'm glad you decided to get more involved in the social aspect. You can learn a lot by asking questions in discussions and live chat. Asking for feedback on what you have created is a huge help too :)

Thanks Darlene!
