I want to thank Welshy for posting the video instructions. It was very useful!

Why am I so excited about this? Well, in late 2014 and even in early 2015 Gmail was NOT compatible with the email system here in WA. I can receive email into Gmail but I was not able to send emails via Gmail using my domain email (eg. <myname>@<mydomain>.

You see, from my experience, Gmail is by far the best email system around as far as managing your emails, security and accessibility. WA's webmail is simply to basic.

Also I lost potential web design clients because I could not setup their emails using Gmail whenever I host their domain name and their websites within WA.

I was on the verge of moving at least three of my most popular websites away from WA to another web hosting company (like BlueHost) just so I can use Gmail.

Now that Gmail IS fully compatible with websites hosted here in WA then I am so happy to continue to pay my WA premium account! :-)

Hmmm, maybe I spoke too soon about the compatibility of Gmail with WA email settings. Gmail may accept the settings and complete the setup, but upon sending emails, almost every time, my emails were not received whenever I select the option to make the email "From" field as coming from my WA email account.

Glad you found the answer. Ive used Gmail since I joined...so wasn't aware there was an issue..lol...like you I would never leave Gmail...I love it

It could've been just me, haha!
I even resorted to registering an account for "Gmail for Work". It's like a business grade email services of Gmail. While setting it up, I also reached a dead end as WA does not allow access to MX records that Gmail requires to be changed/amended.
In any case I do not have to worry about that anymore! :-)

I also happily signed up for Gmail at work and paid for it and then discovered Gmail apps don't work here...sob

hi,

i am about to transfer my domain to WA, how & where do i put the gmail code in WA to receive domain email via gmail please? thanks

Hi, apologies for the late reply. I hope you have found an answer to your question?

I've had problems sending out emails from my gmail if the domain name is hosted in WA. So I do not host my domain names here in WA.
