When Will Those Sales Start Coming?

Yes, that is a question most people ask.

But some have also asked the question in a slightly different form.

They are wondering why, if they have done the work and they have plenty of articles posted.

Ah, but have they really followed the training?

The reason I ask is that I am pretty sure the training covers the need for website traffic.

Most of it is geared toward long-term progress using SEO and related techniques. These take time to build up but they are long-lasting and generally free. As we say in our family, Free is a good price.

But back to the question.

My recent response to these types of questions goes a bit like this:

Let's say that you open up a top-notch restaurant in town. You plan a perfect menu and even hire a professional chef. The decor is intriguing. Everything is perfect in your restaurant.

How many sales will you make?

The answer is NONE. That's right. You can't make any sales UNLESS you get customers to come in.

Oh, of course, you thought they would find you, That nice sign out front is even lit up.

The truth is, in any business, without customers you won't make money.

Now in the case of your restaurant, some people may walk by or drive by and decide to stop in. But without some promotions, it will likely not be enough to sustain your costs until enough people find you.

The same is true of affiliate marketing.

You need traffic to your site. They need to see what you have to say (articles) and see what you offer (affiliate products).

But first, they have to know you are there!

You can use paid advertising and such. That costs money and does require some knowledge. But it will make a difference. It comes at a price, but some feel it's worth the cost. That's a decision you need to make for yourself.

However, it is possible to use a lot of FREE resources to get that traffic, too. Social Media is a big avenue. There are others, too. (again, follow the training!)

Many have written training and posts about FREE and low-cost ways to increase your traffic to your site. I won't go into that here.

So, my Wednesday Words of Wisdom are quite simple: Follow the training (gee, where have you heard that before? 🤔) and concentrate on getting traffic to your site (along with producing excellent content and using the keywords and formatting you learn in the training).

When those customers walk into your restaurant, sit down, and read the menu, they will order and buy!

Excellent Diane Post & Share. It is the Tortoise & the Hare reaching the finish line. Publishing average to poor quality content everyday will not get you there fast either. Producing half as much of 1st rate quality content will get you there and may even produce a higher grade of audience.

You are welcome, Krista. And you are right--we all need traffic. Getting visitors there, and providing with good content for them, gives us a strong starting point.

Can you focus on traffic before you are ranked?

I recommend focusing on traffic from day one. You can post to social media and use other forms of free advertising, even before Google indexes you. It helps give at least a small head start. Also, I find it helps motivate to see at least some people visiting the site.
