Patience, Please

Does anyone have a bit of extra patience today?

I am normally quite patient. And I encourage writers and website owners in the need for patience, too.

I've been known to say...

  • It takes time, just don't give up.
  • Have patience and work diligently.
  • Give it time. And keep working at it.
  • These things often take time. Don't give up
  • To build a business is like building a home. It takes time to do it correctly.
  • Keep working at it. Have patience!
  • Don't expect overnight success. Have patience and keep writing.

And more... I'm sure many of you have heard my cautions often.

But today, it's me who needs patience.

I'm getting a little work done while I wait. But honestly, I'm more distracted than not.

You see, Fire is having surgery as we speak. This is just the first she will probably have. She had pyometra issues and this will resolve those. But it's taking longer than expected. And with her lung cancer, I'm of course concerned.

I know, I need patience.

The vet is doing his best and is quite skilled. This isn't his first rodeo, so to speak.

And so when one of my coaching students asked today, "How long will it take me to write enough?" I laughed a little.

Honestly, I don't know. Just as the vet isn't sure how long the surgery will take, as circumstances arise by the moment, I also don't have an exact time figure to offer.

Yes, I have some ideas. but this student, like the others, needs to have patience. These things take time to build and perfect. With continued effort, it will happen. They will succeed.

But I laughed because I, too, am impatient today. It might just be part of our human nature. We want what we want when we want it.

However, life is seldom so regulated. These things take time. In fact, the best success is reached by allowing for time. Imagine if the vet rushed through the surgery. This is an especially delicate operation and rushing through might cause disaster!

Likewise, rushing through writing, just to get word count, usually brings less than desirable results.

Patience...combined with persistence!

"Patience, persistence, and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success." --Napoleon Hill

Best wishes for Fire's recovery Diane! Stress can make it difficult to feel inspired, and it is hard to concentrate when you are going through so much with the surgery and all the rest of life's demands. I know what it's like; when Bear had a stroke it came out of nowhere. He lived for another year, but it was a very hard time for all of us. Have a great weekend; my prayers are up for Fire.

Thank you, Denise. I do appreciate your kind words and prayers. While I realize that each day is a gift, it's sometimes hard to accept that our futures are so uncertain (for humans and furkids, alike)
Thank you!

It seems like it's always so much easier to remind people about patience, but it's hard when it comes to ourselves. To be honest, I'm not a patient person, but I really do try to be. I wish you the best with Fire, sounds like you have a great vet, so hang in there! Keep us updated, please!

That's true, Haze. It's easier to advise others, I suppose.
We do indeed have a great vet and she is in good hands for the night with him. Surgery went well, so we are more optimistic now.

I'm so glad about the surgery!!! And prayers for a speedy recovery, as well!

I am not naturally patient. Lol. But I realize that some things needs time to give. We are all human and I can totally relate to your impatience. To me I use my impatience for action. So when I feel impatient I use that energy to get things done. Which is quite often :)

We must think alike, Hilde!
While I was waiting for the phone call from the vet, I did quite a few "minor" things. I am sleep deprived today and didn't want to get into major projects, but did manage some smaller things.

Summer has come here and we have sun 24/7 now so It is a huge change from the dark and cold winters. I am more active outside now so gardening, fishing, family, visitors all takes focus off of my writing, but I do a little every day. I have my daily tasks.

Wish your pup all the best!

It is often true for us to always tell others to be patient.

But when we are facing circumstances or situation that are very close to our heart, we are on tender hooks, unable to sit still and remain patient

Diane it is all going to be ok. I will be looking forward to your post of saying that Fire has pulled through.

Thank you so much, my friend. Your words are comforting.
Fire came through surgery but is still in need of vet attention overnight. They expect we will bring her home tomorrow morning.

That's awesome news, Diane

I know that you will still worry overnight, but it is all going to be okay.

Fire will be fine

It is very hard once a person gets in here and they do not know in advance what it is going to take to get it done. When I do any writing on the matter I let them know it is a business and it will pay dividends but their job doesn't pay right off the bat. Hard to accept that but at least they know upfront.

That's quite true and a good approach to take.
