Are these Walls in My Way?

Alright, fellow digital adventurers! Let's talk about those pesky "walls" we keep running into, shall we? You know, the ones that conveniently pop up right when you're about to strike gold?

Note: While this is written in response to some questions I've recently received, I think it's a good reminder for each of us (yes, me, too!).

Are These Walls... Or Just Really Confused Doorways?

We've all been there. You're cruising along, content creation flowing like a caffeinated river, traffic starting to tick up, and then BAM! A wall. It's got "Failure" spray-painted in Comic Sans, and it's blocking your path to that sweet, sweet affiliate commission.

"My niche is too saturated!" you cry, clutching your laptop like a life raft.

"Everyone else is doing it better!" you wail, staring at your competitor's perfectly curated Instagram feed.

"The algorithm hates me personally!" you declare, shaking your fist at the sky (or, you know, your router).

But here's the thing, my friends: Are these really walls? Or are they just doorways disguised as grumpy, brick-faced obstacles?

Let’s be honest, sometimes we’re like a toddler trying to fit a square peg in a round hole, only the peg is our brilliant marketing strategy and the hole is… well, let's just say it's not always obvious.

Here's a handy checklist to help you distinguish between a genuine wall and a doorway with commitment issues:

  1. Is it actually a wall, or just a really thick curtain? Sometimes, the "wall" is just a lack of clarity. Maybe you need to refine your keywords, rethink your content strategy, or actually read the affiliate program's fine print (gasp!).
  2. Does the wall have a doorknob? Are there resources available to help you overcome this obstacle? Wealthy Affiliate's community, training, and support are basically a master key collection. Use them!
  3. Does the wall have a "Kick Me" sign? Sometimes, the solution is to try something completely different! Pivot your approach, experiment with new platforms, or try that wacky idea you had at 3 AM.
  4. Is it a wall built by your inner critic? That little voice that whispers, "You're not good enough," is a notorious wall builder. It specializes in concrete negativity. Remind it that you're the architect of your own success.
  5. Have you tried looking for the hidden button? You know, the one that says "Press here for a secret passage to success"? Networking, collaboration, and learning from others can reveal hidden doorways you never knew existed.

Remember:

  • Saturation? More like a buffet of opportunity! Find your unique flavor and serve it up.
  • Competition? They're just your research department in disguise. Learn from them, then out-sparkle them.
  • The algorithm? It's a fickle beast, but consistency and quality content are its kryptonite.

So, the next time you encounter a "wall," take a deep breath, grab your metaphorical sledgehammer (or, you know, your keyboard), and start looking for the doorway. It might be hidden behind a potted plant, or it might require a secret handshake with the search engine gods, but it's there.

And if all else fails, remember: Sometimes, the best way to deal with a wall is to build a ladder over it. Or, you know, just ask someone in the Wealthy Affiliate community for help. We've all got ladders

and maybe even a few jetpacks!

Keep building, keep learning, and keep asking "Is this really a wall?"

Now go forth, and turn those walls into glorious, commission-filled doorways! (Or strap on that jetpack!)

Diane, another great post! I just read the book 'Who Moved My Cheese', I highly recommend it, especially for people who have problems dealing with change in their lives. Blessings.

Thank you, Walter! And thanks for the book recommendation. It's a nice spring day here in central Florida so maybe I should download a new book and sit by the pool....hmmm...the advantages of working at home!

Have a great day, my friend!

We live in Palm Bay Florida on the East Coast. I have to agree with you, it's a beautiful day.

Wow- small world! We have a farm in Christmas but we used to live in Grant area (unincorporated south Brevard, as they call it). :-)

Great Post Diane, Sometimes I hit walls in my Flooring business, What I call DOovers, pick up where I left off and start again

And that is my theory in life: when it's truly a wall, time to pivot and try again!
