Stop Staring At The Screen!

Recently I had surgery on the finger of my right hand. I am right handed, so it was a little awkward to txt, blog or do anything that required the use of my right hand.

What the experience did do was bring me back to life! I went outside and enjoyed sitting on my swing and reading a book......a REAL paper book!! I went outside and played with my dogs and went for walks on the beach. I sat down with my husband and had an actual conversation which was NOT work related.

Two days ago, the stitches came out and now I am back to blogging and enjoying my Chromebook. But......I have rethought about how many hours that I want to spend online. I feel that online businesses are all very important, but spending time with our loved ones and family should always take first priority. When I was a Sales Director for Mary Kay Cosmetics, I worked my business the Mary Kay way......'God first, Family Second, Career third'. ~ Mary Kay Ash

Even though I no longer am in the cosmetic business, I do believe that Mary Kay Ash had it right. As of 2014, Mary Kay Cosmetics had more than 3 million consultants worldwide and wholesale volume in excess of 3 billion. Mary Kay herself was honored as a leading female entrepreneur in American history.

Now that is something worth achieving, wouldn't you agree?!! So.....stop staring at the screen! Get out there and experience nature and life itself :-)

Hugs and best wishes for a beautiful weekend! xoxo

Couldn't agree with you more! Have a great weekend!

Thank you, Greg! You, too :-)

Hi Diane,
I think she did get it right. God should always be first, in any and all decisions we make, and in our lives. All work and no play is not good at all. Thanks for you motivation. Have a great weekend.

Thank you, Mary! It is always a pleasure to see you here :-) You have a great weekend, too!! xo

Thanks Diane, I will.

True, Diane-We need to find balance in our lives. :)

Yes.....Or we will go crazzzy or even suffer from burn-out! I have been there, done that!

You will be pleased to be on the mend Diane, so true Mary Kay has had such a positive influence in so many lives.

I am SO happy to be on the mend, Alexander! Mary Kay was a wonderful, giving and very intelligent business woman. I will always respect and appreciate all the positive things she accomplished in her lifetime :-)

Good to have you back here on WA Diane, thanks for sharing this good advice, no matter how badly we want to make our business big or huge, it's always family more important, and also God, time flies, children grow so fast.
Have a great weekend.
Alejandra.

Thank you, Alejandra! It is good to be back, and our children grow way to fast......in a blink, they are all grown up. Time sure does fly and we have to appreciate and spend time with those that we love. You have a wonderful weekend, too! xo

Wonderful advice Diane - So something very good came out of what was initially a bad circumstance with your finger . Shows there is always a silver lining in that cloud. Thanks for the wise advice and counsel.

Best, Steve

It was actually the end of an emotional 3-month roller coaster. I went to see my mother the 1st week of April and she passed 3 weeks later. I went back up north to see family in May. Came home and my little puppy was sick. Had surgery June 7th and between that, my little puppy was sick again. SO....Yes!! This is a NEW beginning for me :-) I am looking forward to this fabulous summer!! :-)

Prayers and positive vibrations to you my friend. Steve

Thank you, Steve :-)

sometimes it takes something like getting sick or injured or something like that to force us to stop working for awhile. Work -life balance is really hard to achieve for me and a lot of us.

Yes....I agree, Barbara! I think that is the Type A personality in me ;-) I work hard in whatever I do.....even exercise, training my dogs, etc. It is very difficult to stop until we are forced to stop. And balance is SO important! Thank you for commenting and have a fabulous weekend :-)

So very true. enjoy your weekend. Thank you for sharing!

You're welcome, Linda! Thanks for stopping by and reading today :-)

My only advice is use your left hand more often....lol!

Haha!! Great idea ;-) I can become ambidextrous!!

You should! When you start off left handed like me you have no choice but to be ambidextrous, we live in a right handed world....which always makes lefties look awkward to a right handed person...but the upside is you get to be ambidextrous.....:)

It is so important to take a break, regardless of the reason behind it. My friend took me out for a pampering session yesterday and then the 4 of us had a wonderful meal and general chat about something and nothing. It was lovely to get away from thinking about work and today I feel energised and ready for the next chapter! :)

Thank you, Jude! It feels so good to just be with friends, family or even do anything other than work. You are so right.....it enlivens, refreshes and rejuvenates the mind :-)
