Get Up And Move That Body!

Last Update: June 26, 2016

Are you ready for this........

The fastest way to transform your life is through….movement..

Did you hear that? It's true and I'll say it again......

The fastest way to transform your life is through movement.

And I should know. It’s been the basis for every positive experience and direction that my life has gone. If it weren’t for dance and movement I don’t know where I would be today. Exercise can save your life. If anxiety or depression are holding you back in life, then exercise will help you immensely. Get up, Get up Get busy ~ Get up and move that body!!

Physical movement is the quickest and healthiest way to change your energy, mood, emotions and your attitude. The speed at which exercise can skyrocket your mood is instantaneous.

Test it out for yourself to see what works for you.

Are you stuck in a rut and feeling blue?

Work it out through your body. Stand up wave your arms, jog in place, do some push-ups, dance to your favorite song, sing, run, walk, bike…just get up and move. After you move, check out your mood. Do you feel better or worse? I can bet that you feel so much better!!

Here is a little retro 'Technotronic' song to get you up and MOVING!

Now....finish reading and writing those blogs and GET UP AND MOVE THAT BODY!!

Thanks Diane for the reminder. I know that moving is vitally important and yet I sit at my computer hour after hour. Foolish of me, I know!

Dancing is so much fun! What do you think of Zoomba? I haven't tried it and wondered if you have?

I do Zumba 3 -4 times a week at our local Wellness Center. I am actually certified to teach, but am not teaching at the present time ;-)

So Jay's standing table help us to stand and move the body as we work on the computer!

That is great! For me though....I have to move completely away from the computer screen and do something to regroup, refresh and refocus :-)

Hi D and any sort of movement is great - I walk everywhere as I have no car now and it is great to walk and think and plan a therapy by itself
Reply
dianegailit Premium
Yes! Walking is actually the best exercise and everyone can do it! I love to walk and meditate or just enjoy nature :-)

You are right, Diane, I got to get up and keep moving! Btw, I heard dancing is great as an exercise, is it ok for someone over 50 to dance? I am worried of my bones, lol. Have a great week.

it's not the age, it's what have you been doing with your body these last 50 years? lol! :)

Yes, you are so right, lol. ;))

Well....I am 62 and I do Zumba 3-4 days a week. I also have osteoarthritis and osteopenia. Moving, dancing, walking......anything that gets us away from sitting ALL day is fantastic!!
Reply
Ultimateless Premium
I am 62 too! Do your bones creak as well?...lol!

You are so right. I walk every day and miss it terribly when I am unable to move.

I hate to sit all day long. My body will start getting stiff and my joints start to ache. When this happens I know that I have been sitting way too long!!

You are so right Diane. Dance and Pilates does it for me.

It is wonderful and I will continue to workout as long as I am physically capable. :-)

I have about 6 left feet so dancing is out of the question for me. I enjoy walking but my favorite type of movement and exercise is swimming. I wish I could do more of that.
Reply

Left feet dancers are the best!

LOL not when you have 6 :)

LOL yes, that's me when it comes to dancing. Though I was told by someone a few years back that he went out with his wife one night and she got him up to dance, within minutes, someone called 911 (USA emergency number) because they thought he was having a seizure :)

A lady after my own heart. I love going to the gym for aerobics and zumba; walks on the beach and runs around our neighborhood lakes. Whenever I need to blow off steam, I get moving.

Hi Diane,
I love your enthusiasm!! Moving does help your mood, an occasional nap doesn't hurt either..Lol!! Have a great weekend.

I wish I was able to but unfortunately certain conditions prevent me doing most of that, as much as I would like to :)
Reply

Just laugh more often that'll shake up your body...lol!

Well....even stretching is good for the body. There are so many things we can do sitting in a chair. All movement is so good for the body. I have stenosis, osteoarthritis, and osteopenia, but I will continue to keep moving until I am no longer capable......and that will never happen :-) ~ hugs

Thank you Diane, you look so fab, you are my inspiration to try and lose some weight. Various things in the last year, (including having to have a pacemaker,) have caused my weight to go up and it's so frustrating. I was in 2 national women's magazines in the UK for losing 84 pound and I want to get back there :)
Reply
Ultimateless Premium
Did the women's magazines ever find that 84 pounds for you? No wonder you're cash strapped!

Ok, I took your advice (yesterday) and put in 7 hours in the yard mowing, trimming trees, trimming bushes, mulching and pulling weeds. So I have complied with your recommendations Diane.

Now, for today.............I am so sore I can hardly move.

It is back to the yoga mat for at least an hour tonight to work out some of this, as you stated: "Get Up And Move That Body"!

I would put in a smiley face, but even my face is sore!

Seriously - Thanks Diane for posting something that is always helpful.

All the best,
Steve

That's what my aunt keeps telling me. She's 86 and she's still dancing. She recently had a hip and knee surgery. But she's back to her regular routine ~dancing 3x a week! Well, I don't dance. So, I keep brisk walking and climbing up and going down the stairs at least 10x a day. It's perfect for me since my classroom is on the second floor. How about that for the move, Diane?
Reply
dianegailit Premium
That is great that your aunt is still dancing!! Walking, climbing stairs and any kind of movement counts for something, right? Have a great weekend :-)
