Getting up again
Josh Billings said, "Ain't no disgrace to fall, but to lay there and grunt is."
Seems like I fall down a lot but I always, eventually, get up and start over again. Feeling sorry for myself is an exercise in futility. I am reminded of the one who said, "I was feeling sorry for myself because I had no shoes until I saw a man who had no feet."
There are a million more people in the world much more unfortunate than myself.
When I realize how blessed I am, I am ashamed that I am not more thankful to my creator God for all the blessings I enjoy just living in the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Something to think about when we celebrate the 4h of July and think about those who gave their lives so we could enjoy this freedom.
One of the problems we face is that we have too many choices.
What to eat, what to wear, where to go on vacation. Most people in this world have no or very little choices at all.
The reason we get depressed is we are faced with too many options and then we are disappointed because of the choices we have made and our failure to achieve the success we desire financially, physically, socially.
So the solution to this is, when you fall down (which you will, more than once or twice) because of the mistakes you have made, don't lay there and grunt. Get up, dust yourself off and start all over again working to become the person God has designed you to be.

Inspirational as always Pastor Derry.
I recently got some very bad news and I've been 'laying there and grunting' for several days now. I've prayed, and usually after I pray, God delivers in His own special way.
This time though, I keep letting my fear interFEAR. I suspect my faith is being tested. Isn't that just like God? I know it'll be alright though. I'm actually getting tired of laying and grunting. It's Boring! I got too much stuff to do!
Thank you.
Yep, it ain't any fun lying in the dirt.
Gratitude, I believe, deserves to be expressed every day. I try to remember to express gratitude for many things before I go to sleep at night. There are so many good things in our lives...we need to remember them.
As the first half of my day today was full of problems and bad stuff, it's a good reminder to me that I still have lots to be grateful for.
Hi Fran.
I remember what Eeyore the donkey said in Christopher Robin's book Winnie The Pooh, "Good day, if it is a good day which I doubt." He looked down on everything instead of looking up.
We can make every day a good day if we are thankful for all the blessings God sends our way.
It is up to us to make a good day out of what may start out to be a bad day.
Hi Pastor Derry,
Many fall it is the courageous that lift themselves up to conquer another day. No way could I have come up with that myself. Must have read it some where.
Great post Pastor, thank you for sharing.

Thanks Michael. I don't think anyone has any original thoughts. We have all heard everything somewhere else.
