Hi Folks

From next week onwards, Ahrefs are discontinuing the Newbie subscription plan (which grants free but very limited access to Ahrefs tools and data.)

Ahrefs, in my opinion the most powerful tool of its genre on the net given that it has teh second most active bot behind google bot and collects a staggering about of data is now going to be a subscription only model at a sweet $100/month

I am a premium member, (thankfully) but I can see quite clearly where and how this company are shooting themselves in the foot here.

After all, I only became a huge fan and a $1000+ a year only after spending a heck of a lot of time on the tool's limited but free version and fully undertsand the potency of such an SEO tool.

If I had not had the benefit of trying out the free version extensively I'd have long ago chosen another similar tool like SEMrush or Moz.

I am not familiar with this tool because I have never heard about this particular tool before but I am familiar with Moz and I like that one. So I can't say either way.

Thank you for sharing this information though.

Mary

Ahrefs is a great tool. Neil Patel bought the free Ubersuggest keyword research tool two years ago for $120,000. He made changes as part of his strategy to drive more traffic to his business. Some of the changes include adding features that are found on paid sites like keywordtool and KWfinder. He is experimenting with making Ubersuggest a much bigger FREE tool by adding features found on Ahref and SEMrush. He is clearly trying to pull users away from paid tools to his free tool.

Thanks Glen, that is good to know. :-)

The big question mark in this tool section is what jaaxy is going to do next. The have hinted to bring great improvements and functionality. We will just have to see what that will be.

In the meantime we can be on the lookout for new or free tools

I would like Jaaxy to return more than 30 search results. Ubersuggest returned 63 keyword ideas for a recent query I did.

Jaaxy is actually quite,,,ahh wait no comment!

Huge inaccuracies with Jaaxy and the model that is used by those types of research tools - no of searches. A search can result in zero clicks or several clicks..

Which I feel is far more accurate representation of searcher behaviour and data. The number of clicks generated by a given keyword.

Also lack of geo targeting. I want USA searches/clicks data not global. In my niche, I suspect many other there is a high amount of searches from India (given officially the biggest English Speaking Population!) but just now, not much revenue generated from that particular country given certain banking and finance issues and problems there of in conducting online business.

Also, Jaaxy gives no data related to the strength of the competing sites. Just because the keyword has few competitors it does not mean to say those competing for that keyword are not strong powerful sites with high Page and Domain Authority.

But where Jaaxy excels is it spits out tons of LSI keywords...to be fair, that is its function for me these days...as secondary LSI keyword tool!

I'd like Jaaxy to give info on the top 10 PA/DA scores and number of links each site has so that I can know how tough the keyword is to rank for based on the strength of competing sites.

Know the word count and search user intent classification would help a lot too.

Regardless of what is taught here links correlate in an independent study to 0.4 to your ability to rank, on page SEO and keyword selection was something like 0.02.

SpyFu used to have a free version, but they eliminated it a while ago. It is a great tool to check on the competition, which includes the competition's domain strength, inbound links, keywords, etc.

Yes, exactly. So hence I feel Jaaxy needs to up their game and bring out something better or at least similar to the other great tools out there will they make a dent for any online marketeer.

I dearly miss geolocation results, different languages (support for anything other than English) and a bit more on the competitor bit, other than the usual google search we can do ourselves.

Improvements like that will make me promote the tool way more than semrush.

Indeed Glen, LongTail pro has pretty much all that DA info and is half the price of Jaaxy.

Ahrefs (of which I am premium) gives out info related to how many links and how many domains are linking in but as of yet no KWR tool is actually telling the strength of the sites and domains linking into a competitor site.

As you well know, not all links are created equal!.

The fallacy of Jaaxy is when you find a brilliant keyword with say 30 QSR but find they are all DA 50+ and you despite the apparent low comp keyword are gonna be rooted on P2 or P3.

Jaaxy does give results for other languages, I've tried it out in Spanish and even Vietnamese, it does give out the required info, which makes me suspect they pull their data from Googles keyword planner.

Exactly one of the reasons to review all 1st page SERP listings to put an eyeball or two on the competition's webpage content. One of my research efforts recently turned up all transactional (sales) type pages from known brands on page 1 and most of page 2. My planned content intent keyword was informational. So I knew that my content would never make it to page 1 (or page 2) for my planned keyword.

Ubbersuggests is a great tool and free. Go, Neil Patel.

Regards
Janet

And it's getting better. Neil is adding backlink data.
