Hypocrisy-a poem for thought
Have you ever witnessed someone who points a finger at another person and then turns around and does it themselves a short time later? I think we all have. A pointing finger of criticism aimed directly at someone who can only stand and stare back in amazement. The person can't help but then wonder silently, "didn't you just do that yourself?" They scratch their head, stunned by the notion anyone could be so blind. Wow! If this has ever happened to you then you might have thought, "Did I really see that?" Well, yes...
Yes..., You Did,
And It's True, It Happens to Everyone!
It's happened to me a time or two before, so I thought I'd share a poem I wrote with you. I think you'll see the point. Sometimes you've got to tell it to them straight , and there is no better way than in a poem! You know the feeling by the look on the man's face below. So here goes....
DIRTY PORCH
If you have a dirty porch, I know I wouldn’t stay,
A dirty porch means something else, at least that’s what they say!
They say somehow it just might mean, a weak or a lazy mind,
Or perhaps it means “no welcome”, from a person who’s unkind.
I have a distant memory; a friend gave me a metaphor,
Of someone who was always out to even up a score.
And at the time I heard it, I knew I’d heard it once or twice before.
“Why don’t you sweep your porch!?”, a neighbor just might say,
While their pointing at their neighbor’s porch, their own looks the same way.
Another finger-pointing hypocrite, we’ve all seen it before,
A person with a dirty porch, who then turned and slammed the door!
When his neighbor asked for help, he answered with a glare,
While the poor soul knocking on his door, could only stand and stare.
Someday you’ll stand on a hypocrites porch; that I know is true!
They will stare at you like a stranger, as their hate rots their own porch through!
I see the meaning and the point, to the metaphor I heard,
Though maybe it’s true to someone else, it just might seem absurd!
I know I’ll avoid a hypocrite, when his finger points my way,
And if I take time to think of it, this is what I’d say!
Clean off your own old rotten porch; I would not want to stay,
And I don’t want to look at your spiteful face; I wouldn't visit anyway!

Do You See the Point of the Poem?
I thought you would, and I know you're not a hypocrite. Thank God! I knew there was more to it than what I thought when I joined Wealthy Affiliates. There was a secret of some kind. I just had to figure out what it was. And I have finally figured out what it is.
You Guys Are Just to Darn Cool to Be Hypocrites....
And I'm so glad!. I needed somewhere to post my poem, so I thought I'd try it out on you. I have a lot of them. Some are more serious, so I thought I'd spare you and share one of the lighter ones. I hope you understand my love for peace and harmony. Oh, that's right, you do! That's why I'm here at Wealthy Affiliates, and....
I'm So Happy To Know You All!
Have a great day tomorrow my friends at Wealthy Affiliates! I'm so glad you're herel!

I have a lived-in house. People are welcome and they can voice their opinions if they want, or they can leave them at the door. Our house is not spotless, it is not meant to be. It is a home for my family.
Just like WA - it is not meant to be spotless, all are welcome, warts and all.
I totally agree, and anyway, when was life "spotless" anyway and who is trying to pretend it is, who who???? I always ask that; does anybody really know where all of this stuff comes from? lol
Nice one, Denise!
I try to remember to look in a mirror before criticising.
Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits) wrote something along the lines of:
“Remember whenever you point a finger at me there are another three pointing back at you”...
Beautifully demonstrated in your header image.
:-)
Richard
Oh wow... sounds like we have some music in common! Thank you so much for commenting. Yep, we've all seen it Richard; the ones who knows it all. They never did, did they? LOL
Have a good week Richard. Thank you for reading my post! It means alot. :)
Did you write this?
This is awesome
I always get in trouble because I am always speaking how I feel. I dislike people who are always judging others and act as if their standard is set so high and you are beneath it.
There are no tolerance for people like that in my world!
I write a lot of poems. I have more; I like metaphors so I write everything in them. The porch was a "Goerthe" quote from an hold theologian. My dad really liked him and Kahlil Gibran. :)
Thank you! That was nice of you to say. Actually, it's the first time I have shared them with anyone, so I'm happy you liked it. :) TU
Girl you got a talent make you lil cash from it. Hey I need to know about inlinks n out links for my site. I missed a lesson somewhere. You know?
Check out Udemy; they have everything. I think it is very reasonable considering you can learn if you apply yourself. I learned a lot from the courses I took. :)
Thanks for the compliment. I appreciate it very much. TU :)
Are they short? I have a commitment problem. I can start like Boot Camp, and I haven't been in week cause I cant get the review completed. With banner. I screwed it big time today. 2 colors don't even ask how lol
They are really short; they are in sections. It is marked as you go along, so if you're gone for months (which I have been before) it's still there in the same place. I found it very helpful. Just use the search bar and type in what you are looking for. They'll most likely have it. They are usually no more than 5-10 minutes for each section. :)
Let's look at the header image, with the one finger point.
When you point a finger, you have three fingers pointing back at you.
We all tend to see something of ourselves in another...that is our first glimpse of the changes that we need to make within ourselves.
When we do not like something about the other person, we are magnifying what we do not like about them as a reflection of ourselves.
You must be willing to recognize what it is you see, so that you can become a better version of yourself!
Great Poem, Denise!
Rudy
I couldn't agree more Rudy! They are projecting their own self-doubt onto you because you are a threat to their true integrity. They find truth, "intimidating" because they question themselves and feel insecure. Nobody has time for it; it is immature and a waste of time. Lots of that every day. :) ppl😎 Cool it!! :)

Wow! You made it and it is yours
and so now time to publish it for
good.
I love it my dear, Dahlia.
As though they were out there,
nothing stays the same as the
sun goes down and comes up
again the next day, nothing is
there to stay.
My dear, Dahlia, I love you so
dearly as time goes on you and
I are one forever.
I love you, my dear.
