Amazon Link 'Your search did not match any products'?

First, I've been away so long, where's the best place to ask questions now? Under my questions, or a blog post or live chat?

I'm trying to insert an Amazon Link for a paint product on my page. I'm using the correct code Amazon provides, but when I click on it, it brings up an unrelated page of books (not my paint product) and says:

"Your search did not match any products"

Anyone ever have this happen and does anyone know how to fix it?

Thanks

~Dee

Are you an affiliate of Amazon? If so just when you'll sign into Amazon find a link you'd like to share on your web/Blog,then on the upper part of page will appear widgets such as link to this page, add to eStore etc...click on link to this page and create your link.Highlight, copy HTML or Javascript code and pass it to your web/Blog.
Hope it will help you.Good luck...

Hi there Leluka!

Yes, i have Amazon Links on my site and this is exactly how I insert them. All these steps were taken and for some odd reason, when I click, it's saying:

"Your search "General Finishes GEL JAVA QT" did not match any products."

.... and then lands me on a page of books rather than the product.

I appreciate your help. :)

Hi - this *should* only happen if there's been a problem copying the link.

Can you paste the link here - or post the link to the page on your site that it's on, and I'll take a look for you?

Cheers, Mark

I appreciate this Mark! I've never had this problem with an Amazon link. Here is the link to the page on my site that it's on....

http://salvagedinspirations.com/staining-pine-with-general-finishes-gel-stain/

... and it's the Amazon link that is almost at the very bottom of the page in this sentence....

"If you have any questions/tips/or advice on staining pine or the General Finishes Gel Stain … I’d love to hear your thoughts."

thanks again, Denise

Hi Denise - no problem - it opens up Amazon on this page for me:

Java Gel Stain, Quart: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001DSY50Y/salvageinspir-21

So to me, it opens up fine.

What is the URL you get redirected to?

Cheers, Mark

How interesting... and thank you for taking the time to look Mark!
This is the page that opens up when I click on it:

http://www.amazon.ca/s ?keywords = General Finishes GEL JAVA QT&tag;
I had to add spaces between the "?" and "=" and take out my id because WA doesn't allow url's to contain parameters/value= ... so I hope if you copy and paste and then join it all together it works...lol

Very weird, I've never had this happen with my Amazon Links before. But if it's opening up the correct product for others to see, i guess I'm not going to worry about it.

Thanks for your help!
Dee

Ah - I think I see what's wrong.

Your link opens up the UK store for me. The link it opens up for you is for the Canadian Amazon store. Are you using an amazon link localizer plugin at all?

If may just be that the Canadian store doesn't have that specific item - so it's doing a general search - and the books it's recommending, may make reference to General Finishes Gel.

I find this really frustrating too - because you can't rely on each Amazon store having the same products - so it makes it difficult to produce a global website.

All the best, Mark

YES.. I am using an Amazon Link localizer plugin!

Good to know not everyone is seeing the "no product match page".

Thanks so much Mark!
