Back at WA

I've spent the past 3 years building a local business and have built it to have a very loyal customer base of 13 with monthly recurring work and revenue. Because I live in Illinois and was staring down the barrel of Affiliate Nexus I could no longer focus on affiliate marketing without major shifts so I have also opened 4 e-commerce sites with our own products, dropshipping or inventory (inventory is a pain in the butt but really lucrative.)
And while all of this is going well and my customers think I'm a goddess, I feel like I'm slipping behind in what is going on out there. I did not get hit with any black and white animals but after going solo for about 2 years without anyone to test my thinking against, I am holding my breath and waiting to get whacked in the head.
I love my local business and clients, but it is a "job", meaning I have to answer to 13 businesses monthly. I now want to shift back to a model that is totally online with no local customers. One that I can do from anywhere. The "lifestyle business model." I see this as an 18 month venture because I need to replace my local revenue (which is pretty good) with strictly online revenue; either e-commerce or affiliate. I am prepared to move my affiliate work out of state in order to address that market. I'll eventually have to phase my local clients out. This means as I phase one out I need to replace the revenue with a non-person online stream. Yikes!
I am going to need all the brainpower I can find to help me work through this and if I can offer any help to anyone really looking at local or e-commerce, I'll reciprocate with any knowledge I've gathered.
Really glad to be back to plan my next adventure.

Welcome back to WA! You sound quite excited to make the shift from focusing on your local business to 100% online and I know that you will not be disappointed. Having a business work for you where you can connect with people within a GLOBAL market is just one of the benefits of being 100% online. Not to mention you can do a lot more because your time will not be taken up by just a handful of local clients. Running a local business requires a lot of time because of the one-on-one nature of it. If you create a website online you can connect with 1000's of people from all over the world with a single blog post...this is the power of being online.
In all honesty, there has never been more opportunity for folks to create thriving online businesses, but it does require you to remain up to date and informed with what is happening. There are many shifts that happen throughout the year and we're always right on top of them here at WA!
Since you've been here last we've changed a heck of a lot! We have tons of brand new training, a brand new platform for communicating, and the most NEEDED tools all at your fingertips. I look forward to seeing you around within the community!

Thanks for the welcome back. I felt I had to go local when Illinois went nexus. I was proactive and built it about 6 months before the law passed to cover the affiliate revenue I had built and I have my pitch, offerings and customer care down to a science. The problem I have now is, the handful of local clients have a high run rate revenue I can't walk away from. I've found about 1/4 replacement with global e-commerce niches that are growing but I have a long way to go. I can't wait for WA'ers to help me with my heavy lifting. See you around.
