Just launched my 2nd ebook. $7,500 in profit in 2 months for the combo
I've been blogging for a while...well since 2010. I've been blogging on my main blog since 2011 and the blog was set up to drive leads for my business. And, it worked.
I had no idea that blogs could make money. It was just one of my marketing vehicles to drive customers to my "store." (Now I had a shop at home flooring store, so it wasn't exactly a store, but you get the idea). And, it worked very well. I believe the key to my success was learning SEO early and writing blog posts about the key questions my real life customers had.
Fast forward to December 2016, my life took a 180 degree turn. I'm not going to go into details, but let's just say that I totally needed change career direction and pick up the pieces of my life. I was (at the time) in a very bad financial situation. Sometimes life isn't fair, but I guess it's all how you work with the cards you're dealt.
So starting in December of 2016 (but maybe more like January 2017 when the tears only came once a day), I started to learn how to monetize my blog.
It has been a journey for sure. The good news is that I knew how to do SEO and already had some great content. I had to learn how to do affiliate marketing (and learn how to write different types of posts that would convert to sales better), I learned how to do pinterest very well (I get 120,000-150,000 pv just from pinterest), and I got even better at SEO (I get 200,000-220,000 pv/month from SEO.
As I'm sure many of you know, SEO traffic converts much better than social media traffic, and it's much more sustainable (and more consisent), so I try to spend more time on it.
In December, I decided to take the leap and launch an SEO ebook. It's all about off-page optimization and building white hat backlinks. The only problem is that I have a Home Decor blog. So my main target doesn't blog nor even know what SEO is.
So, what is a girl to do when she knows a topic very well, but doesn't have the right target audience to market to?
Well the good news is that I've been participating in many helpful blogger Facebooks groups and met some really great bloggers. I was initially doing this just to learn more and get tips for my blog. But, as it turned out, I made a lot of friends and colleagues and voila, I the idea came to me.
Create an ebook that could incorporate affiliates. So, there are many that have an audience of bloggers, and they can market for me. So, that's what I did.
I offered a 40% commission and selected a few key well respected bloggers...one that
owned FB groups and really leveraged their email lists (i.e. pretty much the opposite of me).
So far, so good. I launched the first one on December 13th, and it was a huge success. I launched the 2nd one (the one for on-page optimization - for begginers and intermediates) on Feb 1st, and it's also doing well. In fact, when I launched it, I got some more sales on the original ebook.
So far, in slightly less than 2 months, I've earned an extra $7,500 in profit. That's after the affiliate commissions and all the paypal fees. Yes, I could have made more per book if I did it without affiliates. But, I never would have gotten the volume I did without the affiliates. Glad I did it this way.
I'm now going to see if I can figure out how to create and design some Home Decor products for my audience. I like how this is growing my income...and importantly diversifying it.
By the way, I used SendOwl to manage the program, and it just cost $15/month. The 1st 30 days were free.

Debbie,
I am very impressed with your accomplishments and I'm currently looking for your eBooks. Please keep us updated frequently on your progress and let me know if you have social media pages so that I can follow you on those as well.
Great Job, Glenn
Hi Glenn. I'm still new to this platform. I'm not even sure where my profile page is, so I'll have to find that. I don't really use FB for my business, but here's a link to my pinterest profile, in case it helps. https://www.pinterest.com/theflooringgirl/
really good to hear.
Just please check out the rules for WA - we are not allowed to sign the posts here at WA with a url to our own website as no self-promotion is allowed here.
okay, I'm new here. trying to learn the rules and not sure where to find my profile so I will try to adapt that.
no problem. we are all learning and most of us made that mistake at some point:-) But please just edit this post and delete the link at the end of it.

Way to go!!!
I just noticed that you do not have any of your personal contact links, on your profile page.
So, be sure to go to the page to set up your profile. If you scroll down on the left hand side of the screen, there is a place "Follow Me" that will allow you to add links to your blogs and other social media contacts.
That allows people that are really interested in what you are doing to be able to find you and your info.
In order to keep WA a spam free community, we are not allowed to have personal links in our blog posts. There is a LOT of benefit to keeping the personal advertising down.
Best wishes for an even more profitable February.
Okay, thanks Sondra. I wasn't aware of this. I will try to add these tomorrow.
