Opinion poll - How do you build traffic?
Hey WA! How is everyone doing? I had a question regarding building traffic the "natural" way (SEO, social media, etc - not paid ads). I don't want to depend on paying for advertisements in order to get traffic on my site (I'm sure you understand).
What techniques and strategies have you used to build your traffic stream outside of long tail keywords, high quality content and having your site indexed by google? Are there any additional things that need to be done to build that traffic traction?
Is it really as simple as they say on WA - "Just follow the training", etc?
What has been your experience?

When your building your online business consider the things that you actually have control over.
That would be your website and email list.
Personally I don't believe that its smart to build a business around social media.
All the social media platforms have begun to limit your reach unless you pay for ads on their platform.
I've been doing this for over a decade and following the training of writing optimized content provides consistent traffic over all those years. It takes time for content to rank but it works and has been for years. Email does too. I've dabbled in social media but nothing has provided more traffic for my blogs than SEO / content marketing.
But you'll find some people swear by social media, video marketing not other things. Ultimately you want to master at least one medium. You don't want to be chasing after everything and a master of none. And remember we all have different niches so something may work better for some people. I hope this helps.
It does. I'm at the part of the training where I feel like I'm getting pulled in multiple directions (make 4 social media accounts). It's good but it seems to be a lot to maintain for one site.
