I am kind of at a standstill here. I have chosen my niche, pats & friends, but I am really stumped on what kind of theme to go with. Does any one have any good suggestions
There are thousands of themes.
It is impossible to give "good suggestions".
At the beginning, don't worry too much about the theme.
Take one that is simple and not too "flashy".
The thing that is most important is your content.
Pick a free theme. Once you have some content on it and are going in a more specific direction, you can still change your theme.
Most people change their theme multiple times before they find the one that suits them the best.
Remember, you can always change your theme within seconds.
Just backup your site, before you do changes like this.

I agree with Moritz. Before coming to WA I built a couple of websites. I sweated over the theme and the design way too much. Content is king. Just look at Craigslist!!
