Book Review - Webs of Influence

I have not seen many book reviews here within WA. I know, there is so much great material that we don't have time for books, but it is great to get away from technology and learn, especially if you are travelling. Anyway, I have just been reading an excellent book called 'Webs of Influence' by Nathalie Nahai. It is about the psychology of online persuasion, thus very relevant to my alearning at WA. She covers many aspects of website building , audience attraction and conversion with many real world examples from large companies she has worked with.

She covers three mani areas:-

  1. Know Who you are Targeting
  2. Communicate Persuasively
  3. Sell With Integrity

They are very similar to many of the lessons here at WA but it is always good to get a different perspective. Each chapter comes with a 'Make this work for you' instruction. If you are engaging a multi-national, multi-cultural target audience then this is certainly worth a look, she gives plenty of advice in these areas. Did you know that men generally scan a piece of work from top left to bottom right whilst women do the exact mirror, (top right to bottom left). Also, cartoon like line drawings will fire our limbic brain far more than a colour photograph. There is also a comprehensive list of documents she used for the research - enough for a lifetime of reading!

I know it is easy to over complicate what we are learning but as an additional resource perhaps worth reading.

Do let me know of any good books you have found that are relevant to our area of learning, or perhaps even some that you would avoid.

all the best for another week.

David

Totally agree with you and tey are a great break or even escape from technology - even though I do read books on technology!

That's a very good point David, we shouldn't just restrict ourselves to online learning. There are countless books on the subject well worth reading.

Thanks for adding more information to check out. WA is not a get rich scheme--we have so much learning to complete it is a "never ending learning curve" Good for the brain

I will check this book out thanks
