Affiliate Links - Are you loosing your commissions ?

Hi everybody,

We all work very hard promoting our businesses but are you concerned that your potential signups are being savvy and bypassing your links ? We were all recently introduced to pretty links plugin but when you land on the target URL its still possible to delete the extension and go direct to sign up. Am I seeing this wrong ? What about cookies ?

I see quite a bit of traffic on my site but no conversions - am I missing out on deserved commissions ? Your input would appreciated.

You could be. My browser only stores cookies from my 'whitelist'. Once my browser is closed and reopened in deletes all stored cookies, except of those on my whitelist. I also tend to clear my cookies throughout the day. The implication of this is that it is very unlikely anyone ever gets a commission from anything I purchase online. Also some peoples browsers don't allow cookies at all - like those who use the Tor browser.

I suppose what we do with cookies is considered to be unethical by some people sometimes, I ask myself that question all the time... but I still do it. I feel as long as I have a privacy policy and I am transparent about my use of affiliate links then I am not doing anything unethical as people have the choice to delete my cookie and avoid my affiliations.

Hope this helps,

Corey

look this up on google and youtube

quick page post redirect options & settings

Good Question will wait for some good answers from our Awesome WAers

Back when I was vending at home shows we used to call those (clicks)
WTG's. Walking ,Talking, Gawkers, or Looky Lou's. Any way, If you are posting on you're website use a banner. Otherwise, there are 2 ways you can protect your affiliate link. #1. is to use a cloak and tracking link.
or
#2. and this is the one I use most often If I am promoting a particular affiliate through ppc, I set up a page on my website that I do not enable or add o the website menu and then re-direct it to the affiliate as I do for Wealthy Affiliate : http://www.skip2tsr.com/WA By sending to your website your affiliate link is protected.

So essentially what you have done is create a capture page as you WA link ?

Pretty much. That way I can use a sites to post ads. For example here is another one of my websites. I placed an add on clixsense of this page: http://www.skipsinternetconnections.com/PDC/
I've been able to get 12 promo links on this page

I see what you have done but cant figure out how ? Would love to know how you created these full size add pages.

A couple of years or so ago I determined that Word Press and I were not compatible. ( I had not found WA yet ) I use a website program for my Mac called Rapid Weaver. I don't know, but from what I gather Word Press has a plugin for just about everything. So, Look for something in the line of IFrame or Offsite Page, maybe you will get lucky. If I think of anything else I'll let you Know, and if you find it let me know too .Ok.

Ok, I'll do some research and let you know if I come across a WP pluggin

Hi, I found a "page links to" pluggin - although it works its still not right because it still shows up as a normal affiliate redirect - Ive tried it with a pretty link it comes up as an error - I'll keep searching maybe its iFrame

Quick Page Posts Redirect sounds like it might work but Im a bit perplexed on the setup process

I tried the iframe approach but with some digging found a create a custom signup tutorial right here at WA - looks good check it out :

I have 555 clicks and not one conversion. I wonder the same thing at times, but I realize that these people are just looking for a get rich quick scheme and when they find out that it takes work they don't go any further. Analytics tell me that the numbers are in flatted and not all the clicks come from traffic from the outside but within this community itself. If you are not tracking your site with a different source then a lot of your traffic is here already.

LOL Andre, I can't see the screen well....I thought you said 'I feel sane at times....'

I feel the same at times

Im hoping somebody has a solution for this - surely there must be a better way?
