Hi everyone,

For those of you who may know me, my blog is all about language learning. The most recent blog post I wrote was all about efficiency, and it's something I think could really help people here, so I thought I would share :) .

The Pareto Principle

So here's a question - have you ever heard of the Pareto Principle? Or the 80/20 rule? It was started by an Italian economist, and the basic idea is that you can get 80% of the results from 20% of your efforts.

The numbers in this aren't really important, just the general philosophy. It is definitely true for me that I get most of my results from a certain few activities, and the rest of the time I'm much more inefficient. This can be with language learning, at work, and definitely here at WA.

So How Can We Be More Efficient?

To be more efficient and get more out of your time, you need to identify your the activities that will maximise your results from less effort, and focus on these.

At WA this is pretty much going to be content writing for most people. Adding content to your site gives the biggest results in terms of search rankings etc, but so many people will spend hours choosing which shade of blue they want for their header.

If you feel you have enough content, sit down and think about your site. What is really lacking from it just now? If it's an email component, focus on that, if it's PPC, spend some time learning how to get traffic through that route.
