Watch Out For Hackers!
Hi everyone,
I spent about 3 hours this morning with my hosting service One.com as my website had been hacked. One.com had temporarily disabled my website until I resolved everything. Here is what I had to do in order to correct the issue:
- Create a hosting password for logging into my website when putting in the domain.
- Delete about 50 files that were scanned and found to be infected from the database.
- Change all passwords for my site including FTP passwords.
- Re-install all of the wordpress content (Wordpress Content and Wordpress Includes folders)
- Re-install all themes and plugins in their updated versions.
- Remove a redirect code put in for mobile devices (caught this last second).
- Remove the password from my domain so the site is public.
Again, this took about 3 hours to complete and find all of the plugins and themes. I couldn't just update them because I was completely locked out of the admin panel.
This tends to happen most with plugins and themes creating security holes. Make sure all plugins and themes are up-to-date. I would also research any plugins/themes you add to make sure this does not happen a lot with the specific plugin/theme.
This was a big chunk of time I did not want to spend on fixing my site with One.com support. Just make sure you are aware people can hack your site and upload malicious files!

Nothing is safe is it? No need for it ...
At least you were aware of it and able to get onto your hosting service... thanks for the heads up though... security is something we all need to be aware of....
Thanks
