Practice Does Not Make Perfect
In online business, practice does not make perfect.
Things change so much, so fast.Only a few years ago, online marketing used to just encompass a website presence and an email marketing campaign.
Now, we have so many more ways to advertise, influence our reach, and attract consumers:
- Search engine optimization techniques
- Social media -- Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Pinterest, etc
- YouTube and other video sharing sites
- Article directories and authority sites
- Podcasts and webcasts
- Blogging
- RSS feeds
- Text messaging campaigns
- Apps for Android or iPhones
- Magcast
How can you ever become an expert at all of them?
Well, you practice.
You learn, you try, you refine, you learn some more, you try some more.
Practice makes progress.
The fact is, you can become great at online marketing, without ever getting it perfect in every area.
You can move forward, and make money, even if you aren't THE internet marketing guru of our time.
BUT you have to remember the one key thing across all platforms:
Deliver quality, relevant content on a consistent basis.
No matter what avenues you use to attract customers, you need to make sure you offer them high-quality, relevant content related to what they're searching for.
And you need to keep offering it, to keep them coming back.
The more you do this, practicing across various platforms that fit with your marketing style and the product or services you're offering, the more progress you will make.
And ultimately, the more progress you make, the more money you will make.
So practice makes paychecks.
Get out there. Learn, practice, progress in your business, and make yourself some money.
What kind of practice or progress will you make today?
I'd love to chat about it, so leave some comments below.
And enjoy your practice!

Great blog Danielle! You're right when you say there are many ways to advertise and drive traffic, much more than there has been in the past. Trying to become an "Expert" is something that isn't necessary. You do not need to be an expert at SEO to get a ton of traffic and make a ton of money from your efforts. You do not need to be an expert in Social, or PPC, or Video marketing. I encourage people to be lifelong learners. I consider myself a lifelong learner and am always learning new things about strategies that I've been using for ten years.
I can definitely see that you are getting very good at blogging. I like the use of headings and the odd BOLD sentence. You engage your audience by first giving them some great information, then ask them a questions. This is really effective!
I enjoyed this blog and agree with you on all points! In the online marketing world there is no such thing as "Perfect", but practice certainly does make paychecks!!

Thanks Carson!
I'm a lifelong learner too. I've got degrees and certificates in multiple fields, and life-learning in even more areas. When I finished my bachelor's degree, after two Associate's degrees, I declared, "Yay! I'm finally done!" My mom's first response was, "No you're not." Guess being ever-inquisitive is a trait I was born with!
My brain is happiest when it's engaged in learning something new or trying to solve another puzzle. Of course, when that leads to a paycheck or two, my happiness gets an even better boost! ;-) And I really enjoy helping others in the process.
I'm definitely enjoying learning and practicing here at WA!

It is a never ending education. In any profession people have to keep up with what is going on and Internet Marketing is no different. I feel that most people look at it as too overwhelming and give up. I took it one day at a time and tried to learn as I went through any type of training.
I really like your post.
It is definitely overwhelming. There is so much information (not all of it worth reading) and so many different areas to cover...how will we ever learn it all?
We just have to get started, push forward, and keep trying.
In school, we start off at one level of math. We progress each year to the next level, but while we're learning that, we're also exposing ourselves to history, geography, music, art, language, etc. So we become well rounded people, and we grow every day. Then we look back and see how far we've come...which is often a place we never even dreamed of envisioning at the start.
Can you imagine showing someone just learning addition the basics of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, or calculus...and telling them one day they'd think this wasn't so hard? No Way they'd believe you! ;-)
That's the same with internet marketing. If we just start, and build on what we learn while practicing what we know, we'll be so much more successful than we know.
