The Importance of Believing in Yourself
I'm fairly new here but I wanted to stress the importance of believing in yourself to other newbies and anyone else who's listening.
I'm a natural entrepreneur and have attempted many new projects both off-line and on-line. I have aborted the majority of them. Recently I had a good hard look at why I did that.
What I discovered was that I wasn't aborting projects because they were failures but because I believed I was a failure. So I had a good hard look at that.
What I discovered was that I'm surrounded by people who don't believe in me therefore I don't believe in myself.
I have a very small circle of friends and family and I realised that they were not very supportive. The other problem is that I am bipolar. However, I don't see being bipolar as a problem - they do. Being bipolar doesn't mean that half my brain is missing which is how I often get treated. The problem is that I too often listened to the negative feedback and as a result I often abandoned projects that may or may not have become successful.
There are many famous and successful people with bipolar - Carrie Fisher, Mel Gibson, Russel Brand, Jimi Hendrix, Ernest Hemmingway, Frank Sinatra & Jean-Claude Van Damme just to name a few.
All the positive thinking experts tell you to dump the negative people in your life. I didn't want to dump my family. So I decided not to share with them any projects I embark on and surround myself with people that encourage me.
The result? Well I'm not famous and successful - yet. But I do have a lot more confidence in myself and feel more in control of my life.
So the bottom line here is - if you have people in your life that don't believe in what you do find a way to ignore them and do it anyway!

Well said Danni, one of the best things we can do is to become an observer of our own lives, it does help us to see the trees in the forest it is amazing the number of folks around us that are not that helpful,
Best wishes as you embark on your WA experience being here will help to grow your self-confidence.

Danni,
This is spot on!! It hard when we realize the negativity comes from those who are suppose to love us and support us without condition and yet place the most on us! I've found myself in a similar situation and like yourself am stronger for that realization. I truly wish you all the best here at WA...I look forward to watching your progress and success!
