Site Comments and site feedback

Many of us have been using the new site comments system as recommended by Kyle when he launched it a while back.

It is no doubt a great tool to everyone who uses it, particularly those of us who are in the early stages of building our online business, as it puts comments on our site pages and we all know that this benefits our ranking etc.

However, I think there may be some confusion between giving site comment and giving site feedback.

It can be quite time-consuming to earn the credits needed to have your own page commented upon so it is disappointing when you feel the need to disapprove a comment, as that time will have been wasted.

I must admit that I have had, to my surprise, some of my comments disapproved and after studying the reasons for the disapproval, the one thing that sticks out is that people seeking comments are not seeking feedback.

It took me a while to realize this and having read other people's posts in relation to this subject, the penny has dropped with me that when we give comments, we should;

1. comment only on the content of the page, in a constructive manner, as if we were members of the public viewing the site and not as members of WA

2. leave layout and grammar/spelling issues aside

We all want traffic that visits our site to read comments that focus on the content as that could result in a sale or a referral.

We do not want to see comments on our page that might do the opposite, so I understand if someone in site comments disapproves my comment because I haven't dealt solely with the content.

In my opinion issues dealing with layout and spelling etc are best dealt with through the feedback channel or through private messaging.

Furthermore,I would suggest that folk who are unsure of their grammar or spelling might be wise seeking feedback through the excellent feedback channel that is provided before putting their page on the comments site, as nobody wants the public to be reading a page containing errors thereby reducing the professionalism of the offering.

Yes, I've done a similar analysis in the link below:

I wish I had seen that before doing my blog. I think your tutorial is a must for new members at least if not for everyone.

Thanks for your support and encouragement. I couldn't agree more.
