Analyses Paralysis - Be aware and don't get a scare!

For anyone who haven't reached Course 7 of phase 3.
I want to point out important information that I also want to confirm. Hopefully it will save you from falling into the same annoyance as I lead into. Luckily, I have overcome this, thanking my success to Wealthy Affiliate.

In the early stages of developing a new website, I would often get too curious about statistics. When I say statistics, I mean, Google Analytics. You are not going to see results early in the stages, and I found myself obsessed over any results.

Doing this lead me to obsess over checking out the stats,, Almost daily for that matter,..

What A Waste Of Time!

I seen errors, and warnings. Got worried over them, and tried to fix them. Spent hours,,, Days even for some things. Thinking it was going to make a big deal on the results I was to get later on...

Funny Story

After endless hours jumping back and forth between writing and fixing. I end up scrapping all of my fixing attempts and went with the flow writing.. Guess what? I still have lots of errors and appearing on first page of Google.

What does this tell me?

Wasting too much time on perfection will only slow my progress towards greater success. Spend more time improving your own personal skills and abilities. If that is writing more articles, then write more articles. Don't worry about the little errors that are picked up, because these errors have nothing to do with the true value of what you are offering.

This article is a great example of how our obsessions can only slow us down when reaching for something much bigger. Hope you enjoy, and I really appreciate a share!

All men desire by nature to know.

The good and bad of us all..

Thanks for your comment

Your so right Damien we can get very distracted with our obsessions and get further behind instead of going forward. Thanks for the post.
Kim

glad you enjoyed!

Thank you for the heads up. Determination is a good thing; however I had a glitch and got determined to solve it, finally realized if I don't keep going on the lesson I would not learn how to fix it. Much success to you.

Thanks for the input. We may often get curious.. too curious even. Curious before we are even prepared to know

Appreciate your input as well, thanks Damien-P. I have a question btw, how can you tell where you're ranked in Google? I've been asking myself for quite awhile and am still trying to understand how this works, esp. when you're tryin to rank for multiple keywords.

When people usually say they've been ranked somewhere on Google, is in reference to 1 specific keyword or..?

Yes. I refer to one particular keyword at a time. In this case you can rank first page multiple times.

After appearing on first page for your set keyword you then have to focus on improving your CTR, (Click Through Rate).

Gotcha! Thanks for clearing that up. Good to know :)

Thanks for sharing. Good info.

It's so easy to land in the land of analysis paralysis. It takes a conscience effort to pack up & leave...I pack up several times a day! Haha

Congrats for making it to the first page of Google! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, and I am indeed excited for my progress with SEO. Keep up the hard work and it will show for you too!

Once you get the hang of GA, it is very easy. . . . way TOO easy to get obsessed with the numbers. I did that when I started writing my columns a few years ago. I had to ban myself from GA for quite awhile. I still don't check it all the time. If I did, I'd be flipping back and forth myself. UGH Sorry you had to learn the hard way. That site needs a warning label! LOL

Ha ha ha.
content that lay ahead may have addictive attributes. Use with discretion. Anybody who show characteristics of O.C.D (Obsession Compulsive Disorder), please be warned. Your life may become permanently absorbed into something that will never change if you don't stop obsessing on it.

No worries, glad I can share the experience!
