The Reasons Why I Joined Wealthy Affiliate

As the late Dr. Martin Luther King said "I Had A Dream" or better yet "The Dream Had Me." I grew up in the '60s in a poor single-parent family with three older brothers, three older sisters and my mom. So needless to say we never could afford a lot of things young kids today expect and take for granted.

Growing up poor taught me a whole different set of values between needs and wants. In other words, what is essential and what is not to live a good life. Everyone needs a home, transportation, food, and clothing. But it doesn't have to be a million dollar home, $60,000 car, finest restaurants or the most expensive clothing.

I learned at a very young age that it doesn't matter what you have in life; it's about how you choose to live your life because you have nothing to prove to anyone other than yourself and our Creator.

Too many people go in debt for stuff they can't afford or need to try and impress other people then end up working their whole lives away and never get the chance to follow their dreams and passions.

It's About The Mindset

I was invited to go to a free 3-day seminar once about creating abundance in your life, and I decided to go out of curiosity mostly because I was always curious about what went on in these workshops.

I started talking to one of the ladies in the group, and she said to me. You must be rich! I looked at her and laughed, and then I said to her it depends on your definition of rich. I told her that if she was speaking about monetary terms, then I was probably without a doubt the brokest person in the class.

Then I explained to her I have the best family in the world who all love and support each other. I have some of the most wonderful friends on the planet who would give me the shirt off of their backs if I needed it and I am in excellent health and haven't been sick in years. So Yes, I am very rich!

She then told me that she had never thought about it like that and that I should be teaching this class — what a wonderful compliment.

I told you all this little story of mine for a reason, and it was because we all have our reasons for doing things and they are not all the same. It's all about the mindset. Well, enough about all of that let's get down to the reasons why I joined wealthy affiliate.

The Reasons Why I Joined Wealthy Affiliate

  • I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit.

    • I have always known from an early age I hated following orders and working for someone else to make them wealthy.

    • I wanted to follow my passion in life which is to help people with their health issues with natural alternatives instead of pharmaceuticals.

    • Because I grew up in a time before computers in schools, and am not very tech savvy. I needed a place to teach me how to build a website step by step for dummies.

    • The reason I wanted a website was not so that I could only make money but to be able to reach people around the world and help them with health issues and not just the people in my home town.

    Following My Passion

Since I joined wealthy affiliate back in March of 2016, I am happy to say that I retired in June of 2018 at the age of 54 entirely out of debt and I am now following my passion of helping people.

I cannot contribute my being out of debt solely due to the fact of wealthy affiliate because I worked at a sheet metal company for 33 years with the last 10 of them as a supervisor.

I made good money working there and what I did with it was to get out of debt as quickly as humanly possible so that I could follow my passions and dreams even though I have earned some money with WA and my websites.

What Wealthy Affiliate has done for me though is to be able to reach more people whom I have been able to help with their health issues. I now have clients in several states that I have never met personally who call me up asking for health advice.

    Wrapping Up

In closing, I would like to offer some advice to all of you young people out there reading this.

    • Don't be afraid to make mistakes, just learn from them.
        • Don't try and live above your means to try and impress other people.
        • You have nothing to prove to anyone except yourself and our Creator.
        • Don't get so far in debt that you have to work in a job you hate. Or have to work up into your 70's still trying to get out of debt.

        • Get out of debt as soon as you can so you can follow your dreams and passions in life.

        • Life is meant to be lived, not work until you die unless it is something you love doing.

        • Stop wasting so much of your valuable time watching the income-reducing T.V., your nose in your phone, and social media unless you are making some money in some way with them.
        • As Napoleon Hill's book says Think and Grow Rich. Have an entrepreneurial mindset and think of ways you can earn extra income and then follow through.

        • There is no such thing as failure! As Thomas Edison said "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." You only fail if you stop trying!

        • Be kind, respectful, and compassionate to yourself and other people because you don't know what their story is.

I hope you enjoyed this post. I am sorry it was so long.

        Warmest Regards & Best Wishes
        Dale

            Hi Dale,

            Thanks for this fine message!

I'm 57 years old and I spent my entire life getting in debt.

After reading your post, my main goal now is to get out of debt ... and also read Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.

Because I know that being rich is being out of debt.

            Thanks again

            Pete

            Hi Pete, You're welcome.
I got into debt at a very young age to get the things I needed in life. I mostly started out young because I always knew in my heart that I had absolutely no intentions of working into my 70's still in debt.

Think and Grow Rich is an excellent book. He also has another one called The Laws of Success in Sixteen Lessons which is also a great book.

            Best wishes to you Pete!

"The Laws of Success in Sixteen Lessons" sounds like a very good book. I'm going to look for it.

            Thanks Dale

            Pete

            They both are great books.

            Hey Dale,
Good to see you here...and great to hear you're doing well! It's been a long time since I seen you around here, but then again, I'm not reading too many blogs here lately either.

Congrats on your retirement btw! Excellent points you're making here...I know first hand from prior experience that working a job you're not happy at just to make more money is so not worth it! There's little to enjoy about more money with no time to enjoy it in.

I definitely agree, it's not the money or the things we own that make our lives rich, it's our friends, family, our health, and being able to do the things we have a passion for doing.

Thanks for sharing and much success in all you do!
            Best wishes :) ~Sherry

Hey Sherry, Glad to see you are still around as well. Now that I am retired I have been a lot more active on here lately. I hope you have been doing well.

I usually don't post blogs much on here but it has been a while so I thought I would let everyone know that I am still around.

            Warmest Wishes!

            Good evening Dale,

At the end of your life when you look back it does not matter how much money you made, where you have been or what you have done. The human relationships you had during your life they matter as that will have enriched your soul.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Thank you. I agree with you wholeheartedly Taetske.
I hope you are doing well.

            Greetings from the Georgia Mountains.

Thank you, Dale, all is well in the south. Good health, a better half, animals and a lovely farm. Put on top 2 websites which sometimes drive me nuts, who could ask for more?

            All the best, Taetske

You're welcome, Taetske. All is well here also. Great health, I don't have a better half though but that is okay I am happy just being me. And yes these websites can drive us nuts sometimes no doubt.

This is good advice Dale. Thanks for sharing. All the best in your retirement. Gail

            Thank you, Gail.
I wish you the very best with your journey here at WA

            Good

            Thank you Zahrul.
