Has anyone created a website related to their IT freelance work?
I work as an IT freelance consultant in a niche market here in the UK, and I've come to know that some of the software vendors specialising in my niche offer a Partner Program. Basically, depending on various levels, you earn 10% referral fees based on introductions and referrals to them and if they 'convert' to a sale, you achieve this commission per month/annual.

I don't understand. Are you posting this because you are interested in creating an IT site and paying affiliates a 10% referral fee for intros? Or, are you simply stating a fact about how business is done in the UK within your niche? Or, are you interested in knowing if anyone else has created a similar IT site with success?
Hi CathyS, I love my freelance work, it's something I have done since year 2000 with great success. I help large global companies integrate their business information with their trading partners through 'Electronic Data Interchange'. Take a very simplistic example, company A raises a PO via their ordering systems, gets sent electronically over the internet to the vendor's receiving end, and upon receipt, electronically and seamlessly integrates into their sales order platform systems, all this done without any human interaction. Now, there are service providers out there who specialise in getting this done through SaaS (software-as-a-service), and they offer partner programs for those who, like myself, specialise in this niche. Commissions are paid for referrals to them and you get paid a percentage each time they get billed (monthly/annually).

This sounds like affiliate relationships crossed with a finders fee. Are you doing this?
Hi drjec, yes, I am about to engage with a partner program in due course, and hoping to have all the maketing materials to enable me to place them on my website http://appleyardsolutions.com and go from there. I have a lot of contacts in this niche and I have a lot of experience with this technology too (been round since the late 70's would you believe). If I can make it work with the help of people in this community matched with my own niche knowledge, I know I can make it work.
Well, all the best. Maybe you could keep us posted on progress.
