Today's Festive Mood

This festive season is different for me. This holiday season mostly brings love, joy, and peace. Normally some are real excited to celebrate this season with family and friends but for others it's a different vibe. For me it’s definitely changed the mood for me this festive holiday when I have lost dear loved ones this year. It never crossed my mind that this would happen unexpectedly around the holidays.

In this season, it is a time of self reflection of where I stand and what I need to do mentally, spiritually, physically, and emotionally. My emotions and thinking is that I treat this as just a regular day and don’t treat this as a holiday. It is draining having to think about what all that needs to be done to make this holiday exciting with gift shopping, food to cook, and spending time with family. The energy is needed and it's lacking for me.

Moving forward, what matters is that I turn this situation around. From the gloomiest to the joyful. Finding things to share laughter with family and doing fun things. It is a sad time to see one down on their luck or depressed or going through something. It is a conscious decision for one to change their thoughts, environment, and words to stay positive. This doesn't happen overnight but it is work to strive for happiness each day.

Have you hear someone say "Don't let anyone take the J out of your Joy"? As for me it is a conscious decision that we must do daily to make sure that no one take the J out of our Joy. Joy, love, and laughter is what is needed in this season and in every other season. We've heard that laughter is the best medicine for our hearts, love covers a multitude of darkness, and the joy of the Lord is our strength. Strive to have all three in the midst of you.
