Are you one of those people who have been writing tonnes of site content, making videos for the purposes of driving traffic to your websites? You have taken the time to post them all on YouTube and you may have even had success with all your new found traffic.

Then a question pops into your head, I like You Tube, its giving me results but:

What about an alternative?

Great Question - While YouTube is the largest video sharing website on the Internet, it is not the only one. The reason for this is the same reason you are in a niche for your own content in the first place, specialization.

Like a lot of things people fall into the trap of thinking there is no alternative simply because they brained washed it to thinking this way, that’s why the major brands are so successful they want you to think that way. Take a minute and think about all the things you buy are there alternatives? Of course there are you just have to take the time to find them, there are hundreds of them, think on your favourite breakfast cereal. You like Kellogg’s Corn Flakes, how many alternatives can you think of?

It is very easy to get caught up thinking that YouTube is the only video directory. After all it is the only one people ever mention. However, you might have remembered from article marketing that you were submitting to hundreds of article directories. Well video is no different.

Anyone heard of a tool called Tube-Mogul. What can Tube Mogul actually do for you?

Well it can save you a lot of time by submitting your video content to other video directories as well. As they keep an updated list of the sites they submit to in case the list changes.

Video directories are no different to article directories, just the format of the content. It’s like everything in life some are no good, some that are outside your niche and others that you should just completely avoid. Don’t fall into the trap that “everyone” is using YouTube.

Don’t become a sheep or Follow the heard

Not everyone uses every directory. Even though YouTube is the largest, and by far gets the most traffic, some people just do not use it. This could be personal preference, or because the sheer size of the site and how long it might take to find what they are looking for. Either way, it is an assumption to think they are the only one out there. By submitting your videos to more video directories you stand to increase your website traffic from those people who have chosen to use them. If nothing else, it might give you more targeted traffic or even better traffic as your video might stand out more on a smaller directory.

Smaller directories have lower submission rates than YouTube does. Your videos might not get so easily lost in the shuffle and could be on the homepage for much longer. Also, don’t forget that other site owners love videos to. Post your videos on these sites and they offer to guest post the video to a blog. This further increase your site traffic and give people more chances to find your content. Remember – There is always an alternative!

I use both Vimeo and YouTube for videos. YouTube is nice because it's a Google property, this gives you some additional ranking juice.

Thanks for the response, more alternatives to You Tube
