New York State of Mind!
So I’m off to New York on Monday with my wife and kids. 6 nights in NYC then an 8 night cruise to Miami and The Bahamas. It’s somewhere we’ve always wanted to visit and we can’t wait.
In preparation, I’ve spent a lot of time reading about New York - where to visit, where to eat and so on. ChatGPT has done its thing in helping with itinerary planning, something I’ve been using for my niche website too. Huge time saver for me personally
Empire State of Mind
I stumbled across a blog post a few days ago that struck a chord. I say stumbled because it really had no relevance to what I was looking for (fresh pizza in NYC).
Anyway, it was attempting to define the New York or Empire State of Mind. I picked out 4 points from the post:
- Nothing can stop us from doing what we really want to do.
- We relish in the struggle, fight, and determination in everyday life.
- Step up, speed up, or get out of our way!
- To the point and not willing to wait around for someone to do something we know we could do .
It really made me think of what I want from my WA journey and how I’m going to get there.
Nothing can stop us from doing what we really want to do
What I ultimately want is a better life for my family. I mean that’s probably the goal for most people but it’s my aim. I want to give my kids a better future. I want to be able to let my wife retire early. I want to be my own boss. There’s a lot of things I want for my family and I really see WA as the way towards that.
I’m determined to make this work. It WILL work. No one tell me any different! I made a promise to myself that I’d put everything I have into making this work and nothing can stop be doing that other than me, myself and I.
We relish in the struggle, fight, and determination in everyday life
I’ve been lucky in life so far. I’ve had it fairly easy really and I count my blessings for that.
This journey towards being my own boss and giving my family the life they fully deserve may be a struggle at first.
Not a struggle in the true meaning of the word. More of a fight. A fight to produce helpful, useful and Google pleasing content. It is no get rich quick method that’s for sure.
It needs patience and determination to keep plodding along and creating useful content whilst seeing very little return for your efforts in the early days.
Despite this, I’m genuinely relishing the opportunity to do what I’m doing. I’m writing content about a subject I’ve known a lot about for a long time. I’m writing from knowledge and experience and I feel like I’m starting to find a real voice in how I’m writing.
Step up, speed up, or get out of our way!
I’ve stepped up. I’ve taken on what I know is a big commitment to myself and my family. Building a niche website is not an overnight success story, it takes time. The training here is fantastic, I’ve learnt so much in a short space of time about Google, website building, analytics, advertising, marketing. The list goes on.
It has helped me get to having my own website, with 20+ posts in less than a month.
When I made the decision to do this, I knew it would take time but I wanted to attack this with everything I have. I’ve got quicker in my research already (mostly thanks to Partha!), I feel like I’ve achieved so much in a short space of time.
To the point and not willing to wait around for someone to do something we know we could do
The whole point of WA is to help and educate so that we have the tools to achieve whatever goals we set ourselves. It’s not about handouts and having others do the work for you. It’s about learning and doing. As simple as that.
I’ve taken the step to do things for myself. To learn, to create, to collaborate.
I’m almost a month in to my journey and I’m more encouraged than ever that I can achieve my goals.
I WILL make this a success, whether that is in 12 months, 2 years or 5 years.
It will happen, I’m certain.
