Should Ambassadors quit?

Last Update: May 12, 2016

I feel sorry when one of our Ambassadors quit.

I saw RaeAnnePond leaving us, now, our dear Heather (freedom1207) wrote a farewell post.

I understand that priorities change and our life path is going in a different direction, but, with so much exposure, an Ambassador should not be allowed to quit.

What do you think?

Cristina, you are very funny indeed, if an ambassador is not allowed to quit, where on earth is THAT FREE WILL GIVEN TO ALL MANKIND? This ambassador joined freely, and should be allowed to leave freely with our good wishes, and the very best for future.

So upsetting when you loose someone close to you I know. For their
future let's wish them well know we will be here for them if they want to return. I agree with your last thots also.

Ambassador has nothing to do with where a person is in there life. An ambassador is just an rank of engagement within the WA. Other then that it has no value in building a successful online buisness.

Ambassadors will come and go - also having a high rank has no correlation of skill, knowledge or success - like I mentioned it just means engagement within the WA

well, as much as we'll miss Heather and anyone who decides to take a different path, it is their choice. Being "allowed" to leave is just like with any position/job in life. People come and go everywhere and it's just the way it is and it's how we grow.
We just need to wish them well on their new adventures and, like Heather says, we're still connected and we'll hook up with her at the next turn.

This is voluntary. They can quit if they want to. We all make decisions based on what is best for our own lives.

Hi Cristina,
It is sad when anybody that we get to know has to leave but life happens. It is an honor to be an Ambassador for such a wonderful community but there is a time sacrifice as well.
There are many worthy of Being Ambassador and if someone has life situations that demand their time there are other's that are very capable and have much to offer.
Yet we miss those that move on but they may return; a good quality of WA.

Cristina, i joined WA two months ago and I have moved up in the rankings pretty fast. I am a retired teacher and spend close to 10-12 hours a day on WA working on my sites and helping others. It is my goal to try to become an ambassador. I have time to help others, but if others have jobs and do this, it has to be exhausting. I can understand why people step down. They have to make their life and family their main prioity. It would be a difficult decision to make and I respect those that have to leave!

Dear Liz,
Spending 10-12 hours a day seems a lot to me! But if you enjoy what you're doing, it's fine.

I wish you from the bottom of my heart to reach the Ambassador level!

Being an ambassador should not tie a member to WA, especially if life or their dreams take them in another direction

Unfortunately life happens! I think high ranking people are amazing and must spend an awful lot of their time working within this wonderful community. Personally, I don't know how they manage to work on their blog. I guess they work full time and have little other to take up their time. Who knows? I see you Cristina are at rank 208 which shows your absolute commitment.

Sometimes changes are good for us. We learn, grow and apply our knowledge in another field.
I must confess, I learned a lot being active @WA.
That's why, I guess, some of our members are active, and persistence rewards them with a high rank.
Having activity here doesn't allow much time spent on their website, but as long as this is their option, who am I to judge?

Hi Cristina, an interesting point of view, I think that anyone that makes it to, be an ambassador must just about be living at WA full time. I am not really sure how some folks do it, to be honest, dedication and perseverance mayhaps. If that translates to online success then I think it does pay to strive to be an ambassador. It is sort of a conditioning. Just imagine how many emails and pm's come your way on a daily basis. In its self, it is very good training to handle that kind of pressure. I think it was someone famous that said you can only live in the sun for so long before you need a little shade.

Alexander, your comment is like a charm! Some members were upset and told me "it's a free world". I agree. Each person must do whatever is fine for him/her.

I didn't want to upset anyone. I wanted to be on page one, the first position on Google when you search for "Should ambassadors quit."

And I am!

Haha, should not be allowed?

This just goes to show how the WA ranking system fools people. Ambassadors are just the top 25 ranking members, and high WA rank just means they were the most active on WA. That's all it means really.

If they don't want to be here, or it is no longer a priority, let them leave, and let someone else slide up into Ambassador status.

I completely support Rae Anne and Heather in their decision to leave as they have other things which are more pressing in their lives. As Ambassadors, why should we not be allowed to quit? We don't get paid for the position, we don't receive anything different to what any other member does. I'm puzzled by the question to be honest Cristina :)

Jude, each person, is free to do whatever she want.
Maybe my English is not sufficient to explain. I think that the 4000 followers you have till now are an important part of WA community.
You, as a leader and Ambassador, lead by example, and all your decisions are seen by a lot of persons (for example, I have only 700 followers, a lot of them already quit, and I'm not in any top. Who cares about me?
But a lot cares about you! :-)

Have I explained better what I intended to write?

Hey Cristina, I know what you mean about leading by example, but sometimes we have no alternative but to follow the path we have to follow. I would be very sad if something happened which would make me leave now, but I would hope that the people who follow me would know enough about me to know that I was making the right decision for me and my family :)

I would totally understand your decisions as I understand the Heather's and RaeAnne's choices.

Marcus, this is your best so far. You are making progress. I agree with what you said above (or is it below?).

This ranking should simply be abolished (am I using correct English word?). I published a post about it in my site. WA owners are good in human psychology.
Reply
Marcus1978 Premium
Thanks, Jovo.

I don't know whether WA ranking needs to be abolished completely. Maybe it just needs to be modified. It is nonsense that someone can achieve Ambassador status in just a few months from being really active on here. There needs to be some other factor involved, and it people should not be able to become an ambassador until they have been here for at least a year, or unless they have upgraded to Yearly.

This would pretty much remove this problem of someone coming on here, being super active for a few months, then suddenly leaving.

The most active on here are not necessarily the most successful or the best people to look up to. But the current Amabssador system makes it seem like that. It's a broken system.

It is broken system, easy to agree about it.

Maybe this is a broken system as you say but Going up in ranking means a lot of time invested in WA community. I am disappointed by your comment. I understand what you mean by this and I do not agree with you. Why people are able to climb the rank so rapidly? Is there even a purpose fot this question? They work hard to do this. I personnaly invest a lot of time in WA and I see the rank change as a sigh on appreciation. What is wrong with this picture?

Diana, I assume this question is for Marcus? But to explain my words above, I received your reply in my email: we are here to try to start an online business and not to be ranked at WA. Most successful people here are not 'appreciated' by community because you do not even know them, they mind their businesses. That is the idea of coming here. WA is a business company, not a chat club.

I do not expect that you agree. You have your opinion, I have mine. We are good?
Reply
Marcus1978 Premium
Haha, we have an interesting relationship, don't we, Jovo?

Half the time we agree (for example on this issue), half the time we disagree.

I suppose it keeps things interesting...
Reply
Cristina11 Premium
As you see, Jovo, I apply what you have written in your posts because I follow you since...but that's not important.
You have a post and I realized why is important to write having a purpose in mind (other than chatting).
Also, the following helped me a lot: Thank you!
Reply
Marcus1978 Premium
Diab, the issue is that it is possible to climb the rankings quickly just by being active, not necessarily useful or helpful.

Please don't take this as a personal attack on you. I'm not questioning how hard you yourself have worked. I don't know you well, so I cannot make that judgement.

But why is it that some of WA's top earners are nowhere near Ambassaor level? Take Colton, for example. He earned $10,000 in December, yet he's not even in the top 200 for WA rank.

Also, please don't view being on WA as work. This will hinder your success.

We are having a nice discussion here; opposite opinions perhaps but I believe at an appropriate level, in a civilized manner.

You do not know, but I am right now in a fierce discussion with Marcus within some other blog. That is why he mentioned our 'relationship'; we are in a partial agreement here, but in a total disagreement there, about some other issue, still very relevant to this discussion here, about WA in general terms, scam issue etc.

But I think I shall have to stop here. Nobody offended, hard feeling?

Marcus1978 Premium
DIAB, the reason this is not the case is because the more time someone spends here interacting with WA members, the less time they spend on their own websites, so the less success they have. The very reason why the successful people are successful is because they are working on their websites more than they are socialising in WA.

I have even seen it when some members realise this for themselves. Mark1957 is one example. He rose to the top of the rankings very quickly. Then one day he realised his priorities were wrong. He'd got a high WA rank, but it didn't really mean anything because he wasn't earning any money from his website. He's a lot quieter now, probably because he's focusing on his website more.

I think it's all about balance. It's good to be part of what's going on here, but it should be a relatively small part of your day compared to working on your website. Well, that depends how new you are. When you are new, you are busy going through the training on here. But once you have finished the training, you probably shouldn't spend more than about 10% of your working time on here. That's an arbitrary percentage I just pulled out of my head, but you get the general idea, right?

Being on WA isn't actually work. Once you've done the training, being on WA is socialising with other internet marketers, which is important. But you still need to work on your websites to actually get anywhere.

I completely understand and I do feel the same. I had bad previous experience at work as I believe you know. Contributing to WA community is part of my therapy because what mobbing does to anyone is killing their inner self. Or I am a goal driven person, I always loved people and I always enjoyed helping others. Mobbing made me feel useless. So this is my story. Not a nice one but I am finding myself by helping others. Achieving high ranking makes me feel worthwhile.

We live in a free society and sad as it is I have known Heather since she joined and I will miss her around WA , we cannot force anyone to stay people leave every day even ambassadors, it would be kind of like saying a employee cannot resign.

Katie, thank you for your opinion.
It's good to live in a free society (I know because I also lived in a dictatorial society) but I wanted to show here the impact of the quitting upon the followers.
If I leave, nobody (or few) will miss me. But if someone like you, or any other Ambassador, with a lot of followers, quit, in my opinion, it's not okay.
You're leading by example.
So others Ambassadors.
The impact on followers is bigger.

I can understand you feeling that way however sometimes circumstance in life changes things for us and I know even before Heather became an ambassador she was struggling with her pathway and considered leaving, members have the choice to follow other members via social media and there are some members who are not ambassadors with bigger networks that leave also, I am sorry you feel upset by this.

People gotta do what they gotta do! While I am spending time here and working on my website, I have marked myself unavailable on a freelance website. And I was actually making money there.

You folks that have made it to ambassador status or close to it are spending a lot of time nurturing other people and not necessarily spending enough time doing your own thing, like gardening or cooking or reading or grooming the dog. It must be exhausting!

She probably did find pleasure in it for a long time. I didn't see her post. But newbies like me are still relying on people like you to help us and we are very grateful for it!

But, if you leave at some time, I won't be mad. I'll be concerned about what it may have been that made you leave. We're all in this together, until some other crap comes up, and that can be pretty much anything that comes along and shoves itself in a person's face.

You never can tell how life will change in the (nearby) future, there can be multiple reasons to go another road. For now, I hope I never have to make that choice.

Being an ambassador is not equal to having success with an online business, it merely says, that you are an active WA member.

Life can inflict so many challenges and opportunities. I have seen a lot of people come, made it into ambassador and leave.
