A word of caution if you use Kodi
I decided to write this short blog today because The Mirror newspaper in the UK just revealed that 5 people have been arrested for selling TV boxes fully loaded with Kodi.
A word of caution
The legalities are a bit of a grey area at the moment, but you should be very careful. Last year a Middlesbrough man, Brian Thompson, was charged with selling Kodi boxes and he is due back in court in May this year.
If he is found guilty, it will open the floodgates. How long before other countries follow suit?
What is Kodi?
There are probably quite a few of us who use Kodi and I know for a fact that there are some members on here who don't know what it is.
If you are one of these members, Kodi is basically FREE TV software which can be downloaded and installed on all popular devices.
If you are in the UK please be aware that the Government can now see what you are viewing, even on a TV box. The Snoopers' Charter is a law that went through Parliament last year and gives the Government access rights to your online activity through your ISP.
They are even entitled to hack into your PC and pass the info to other departments.
Illegal Boxes
"This is becoming an epidemic," Kieron Sharp, director general of FACT (Federation Against Copyright Theft), told the BBC.
"If you are not paying for Sky, BT or one of the pay-TV providers for your subscription channels, you are clearly in possession of an illegal box."
The IPO said the increased availability of such devices was now a "significant challenge".
Sorry if this is a bit OT but I wanted to highlight the dangers of using Kodi in the UK and potentially elsewhere. I'm sure a lot of us on here use it.

He may have been a few years out with his date, but pretty well everything Orwell wrote about has come true. We do have the power not to play in that particular game though - let's hope enough people have enough sense........
Hi Steve, we never had the power when the UK Government rushed the Investigatory Powers Act through Parliament last year. We have Theresa May to thank for that. Anyway, I don't think we are allowed to discuss politics on here so I better be careful :)
In hindsight she actually done me a favor since I am promoting VPNs on my website!
Orwell's 1984 and Huxley's Brave New World were formulated in England-UK and they are well on their way. Cameras everywhere in London and other places. And now snooping into your PC. The next thing they will have cameras watching the rate of decomposition after your burial!
