1973 - What? I was the ....
Bride!
So ... at 19 ... with $300.00 between us and a beat up used vw bug ... we married and moved to northern Wisconsin to start our new life. Away from friends and family ... we learned to lean on and be with each other. I believe that that is what gave us such a strong bond.
We had to learn how to be grown ups, be married, and be responsible ... together ... without any outside interference ... no matter how well intended. We had a great adventure ... finding jobs, an apartment, making new friends, exploring our new area, and having so much FUN and the FREEDOM to do it.
I think we ate Campbells soup and drank Kool-aid most of the first year ... because that is all we could afford! LOL
Life lesson ... sometimes you just have to leave behind what is safe, familiar, easy ... and just GO FOR IT! XO M

I think your story is lovely. There is something unique about stories like that,it show,s from the beginning a couple takes on through the up,s and down,s but yet they know when they have each other they have everything.
I love the film "An Officer and a gentleman".Remember that old movie Richard Gere playing Zack starts out with nothing and enrols in the Airforce training program. His wife works in some kind of factory,it,s all about their journey and how he makes his training worthwhile.
My wife and I started with almost nothing. And now with hard work of
a lifetime, we have most of it left. Old Joke. Congrats to you. Remember how exciting it was starting in your own place, made that Campbell soup and kool aid taste just fine.
May be an old joke ... unfortunately ... it's pretty much true! 'Cest la Vie. Working with WA to fix that! LOL M
Wow, brings back memories. My wife and I were 19 & 20 when we got married and moved away. Not a dime to our name but I had a job as a laborer for an oil company in Morro Bay, Ca. It was tough but we did it together just like you. That was 50+ years ago. Thanks for bring back the memories.
LOL< Funny the things that stick out from the early years. When I got married Shelby and I headed west 3 days after the wedding.Out in San Francisco as newlyweds we ate Hamburger Helper as a steady diet for the year, lol.
