Job? I Take Successful Affiliate Marketer over Resumes and peeing in the cup!
Today was not as productive online as I would have liked it to be. In fact, I think that has been the trend for the week for me.
That isn't to say that I haven't done ANYTHING online; and it most definitely doesn't mean I was lazy this week! I was productive in a Getting Educated sort of way.
2 Hypothesis' for Why My Site Production has Slowed!
1 - My desk is shaped like this L My computer sits in the corner of the L and when I started this WA adventure of mine, Everything was organized very efficiently and always with purpose!
Lately, this once immaculate and beautiful L, has been heLl.
I have ideas written all over! I can't believe the number of sheets of paper I had to organize for a page or post that I hadn't done yet. Oh yes, there was an equal amount of loose sheets of paper on the desk with no value to me at all! Recycled!!
Pens everywhere too, EVERYWHERE! It isn't a large desk, I'd say it's about 4 feet out from the corner in both directions. 11 of the exact same super fine point pen.
Joke: This part wasn't a surprise to me, pens are the one thing that are allowed to be anywhere and everywhere in my house without ANY regulations. I'm serious, if i'm sitting at my desk and I move my hand, it had better not move more than about 12 inches without contacting a pen or a keyboard!
Yeah, yeah, I know. I'm a little bit weird.
Anyways, this disorganization is my first guess at why I slowed down a little bit. It is far too easy to get distracted when you have lost all structure and everything is pure chaos!
2 - I don't have the keyword placement and selection mindset to post my sites so that they will RANK!
This is a skill that is coming along for me, and I really don't want to flood my site with a bunch of pages and posts that aren't going to be ranking highly.
Hold on, I know that I probably came across as being frustrated there... oh contraire!
Currently my site is a bit like the digital version of my desk above. Not necessarily disorganized by the layout, but there is a lot of work to be done to go back to these pages, get rid of bits that are holding a page back, add this here, change this image's alt text..................... And I have no idea what the hell a meta tag is! Yet!
7 Day Forecast
Friday - I have one page that I want to build and post by tomorrow. Goal - Before 5 p.m.
Saturday - My little guy turns three. I will likely be eating pizza and cake and helping him open the presents that I wrapped. (Why do I even bother wrapping them, he just makes me open them..., ok, you got me. I like opening presents even if I buy them and wrap them and then don't get to use them. haha)
Sunday - Finish up a couple of the more tedious things I'm working on with the website
Monday through Friday and FOREVER AFTER THAT TOO! - Start pushing my pages to top 10 results, aka page 1.
Not that I expect this to happen right away, but I will be spending a lot of time learning about choosing & using keywords. I think its going to be a grand ol' time!
That will slow the pace down a little for pages being posted but should increase traffic.
I found it strange that my traffic has continued to rise despite the fact that I've posted (maybe) half as much as I have every other week since starting.
Oh yeah, speaking of progress slowing down, I'm guessing I will be creating content and learning at a much slower pace when 2016 rolls around because... =^(
I'm going to need a JOB!
I got laid off the last friday in MAY!! I feel like I should probably start looking for the next one!
Who knows though, maybe by that time my site will be profitable. I'll keep my head in the clouds and do what I can to make it happen. I don't need to have "full time income" by then.
My initial goal that I set for what I would be content making per month was $800. Right now I am saying that at half of that, $400/mo, I would only have to work part time, like 15-20 hrs a week. Then I'd still have P L E N T Y of time to continue learning the ropes here, making a better life for my son AND myself.
I've made $0.58 cents off of an adsense click, so far. What am I typing this mile long blog post for? Obviously I have a TON of work to get done!!!!

You're going to work it all out and everything will turn out just fine. Even if you have to get another job temporally. Just keep working toward your goal. Before long you will be able to make a decent income from home. Congratulations on your sons 3rd birthday.
Wise to realize what it takes to keep things moving! Having a bit of organization helps. I try to spend a bit of time on Mondays getting things back in order for my work space. Does help! Keep plugging away!

You are not alone. You should see my office. I too have notes on 2 writing tablets, plus my books I use to write.
I failed to mention in there that I actually REALLY enjoy organizing.
To the point that I often won't start a task like putting laundry away, because I know me and... well if I hang one shirt up, I will (obviously) need to sort every shirt I have by color, followed by the next three most commonly shared characteristics. i.e. collared or sleeve length.
I alphabetized things, as a hobby..
I won't keep going, though I could for a long time and then I could alphabetize this list.... dshag stop sorry.
Thanks for commenting, I actually have another desk that I could set up. It is bigger.. Yes! I'm doing that!
More space to make a mess over, right? haha

Weird can be very good.
I really like your post. I know I'm more that a little prone to disorganisation and sometimes spend more time looking for something than it would take to just do it over. And I often write things in a mad rush, publish it and then have to do corrections on it. But here's to getting better at the business, getting more organised and getting to #1.

Somebody has to keep the normal people on their toes! haha
There will always be an area to make improvements and even if you are the best at something, you can still get better.
If a person believes that he/she has mastered a skill set and there is nothing that could be done better; I'll be the one running up behind them, ready to take the lead!
(Oh, they won't even see it coming since all of they are blinded by their own confidence, to proud to look over their shoulder! then VOOMSH... they feel the wind and are subsequently blinded by the dust trail!!!!!!)

You are not alone in your plight ! The problem is not only trying to do two jobs,ie, day job, and WA, but to learn the right mind set to progress with WA. It will hopefully become easier to work more constructively once we fully understand the whole process ! Keep at it, and i wish you luck looking for work .
Well, I've been having a blast since day one. Frustrations are typically short lived and very infrequent.
I was certainly buried in notes and clutter and didn't realize it had happened until today! I feel like it slowed the actual page and post production down, but, when i wasn't working on posts and pages, I was doing a lot of the opposite, taking in new information! Learning valuable skills and tools and techniques for all of this!
So I think it was time well spent regardless.
I got reorganized today and that is a huge step in the right direction for me.
I'm not sure what the right mind set is for WA for sure. But if it has anything to do with Determination to Succeed mixed with a dash of Willingness to Learn and a pinch of Ability to Apply Knowledge...
I feel good about WA, I have no idea when or if money comes into the mix here, but I am constantly setting challenging goals and achieving them. For me, achieving your goals feels good every time!

this does not sound promising that i signed up for the premium... Then again, we'll see how it goes. I'm about to get started on my end and had a slow week myself. Did a lot of learning and JUST now starting my page after a week. The past few days have been more than stressful with the temporary orders trial on custody for my own 3 yr old and progression of the divorce. So, hopefully i can get out of the funk and back in the swing of things.
Everyones path at WA is not the exact same. Different niches, different personal lives, different minds.... There are a ton of factors that effect many things.
Keep in mind, this isn't sold as a get rich overnight product. I've only been here a month. It would be nice if I could have a highly profitable business built from scratch in 1 month.
But I think that its probably good that its not that easy, the skills can be learned by anyone, but everyone doesn't learn at the same speed.
More importantly, Everyone doesn't have the same amount of time to commit to being here.
1 month for me is not the same amount of WA time as 1 month for you.
If you stick with it, I feel like you'll start seeing progress and you'll be happy that you did sign up for premium!
I have learned a TON since joining WA. I had no experience at all with anything related to any of this. For the $19 it costs for the first month, well... I'm not sure you can get any more value out of $19.
I hope things work out for you and your kiddo. I'm sure you'll be feeling good again once all of that is sorted out.

From the pic, it's priceless, you and the little guy. Your ramblings are appreciated, even though I don't fully understand what your doing as of yet, ha ha. Cherish every moment tomorrow, and WA will be here when Sunday gets here. One wish I do have for WA is that there will come a time where some of us in this Community can truly spend an afternoon together in a more personal way and really glean from one another. Talk with you soon, got some of a page written, and kind of getting the picture. Got tomorrow, and will be back out on the road again till Friday. Got through to the end of lesson 6 in Bootcamp.
