Thoughts On Site Content At WA

The recent addition of Site content for writers and Bloggers is the best thing since slice bread. Not only can you have all your articles in on place, but also you can arrange them in buckets to you liking.

There are also two important features; one you don’t have to move away from the platform for images, one million of them; and for editing –ABC.

I know admin is always looking for ways to improve the users experience.

Can we as users play a role in the improvement if and when we see the need?

Assuming you see an issue with either of the two features; Is there somewhere appropriate and specific where you can make a report.

In the feature of editing, if you see an issue with one grammatical error that you are positive about I am aware that you can ignore correction twice to override the correction or you can insert your own correction in the window provided.

This could be a problem for someone who is uncertain about the correction, could be someone where English is not their first language; and for the user who might be confronted with the same error several times.

This is where the report is important to prevent repetition of the same error, let’s examine two examples.

I was writing a figure of a figure 1 million items and the correction says 1 a million. The second was a word very familiar to the platform-Jaaxy- the editor offered a possible spelling mistake, but clearly I knew my spelling was correct, but what if I didn’t know that?

One thing that I am not sure about; how am I to interpret -ignore always.?

Knowing the complexity of designing such an automatic system; It might not be easy to correct.

My question is, would filing a report help in the improvements?

I like Kyles answer it is so true we all have difference styles of writing . This is one thing that I worry about always. I like to think that I write from the heart. Like talking to some one as if they where there with you,
I like to think that I am a story writer. and Story’s have to be told in your own way or the way I see them. I hate to say this but many people here at WA have put me of writing.

Kyle has given me insensitive to keep going. So thanks Courtney for this post.

Always a better way Linda

Why, is it just your reaction, or comments directed?

1

I think a bit of both, or maybe self confidence. Not necessarily comments directed at me personally. English is not my forte, my mother language, yes. so I tend to write how I speak.

This is not bad only it is not conventional. I admirer those that write English that is not there mother language and it is more of a correct writing.

I imagine that your mother language is not English because you us comments directed instead of direct comments. But I understood what your meaning was. Because My second language is Spanish.

So sometimes we just have to ignore and us the ignore button.

spelling and grammar checkers are not always 100 correct. we still have to interpret for context. artificial intelligence is not always intelligent!

Agreed, nothing is going to be perfect, in particular with so many writing styles.

In fact, as you write more you realize that it is OK to break the convention grammar rules because that is YOUR particular style of writing, and that is OK.

SiteContent implements some of the most advanced grammar, spelling and sentence structure analysis in the industry, but it won't catch everything in some cases it will catch too much.

I agree with everything except SiteContent grammar checker. In my professional roles I have done a lot of high level writing and MS Word is a better grammar checker. But it doesn't get everything right either.
And, for this type of writing a conversational style that is not perfect English is often better.

Is there room for reports or do we just make the best of what have?

The images in site content don't always line up like bread slices

2

The sizes are sometimes overwhelming; I am not sure how to reduce sizes at times.

I have noticed that the spelling check can sometimes not 100% correct. If I know the spelling is correct, I just press 'ignore' and move on to the next word.

Likewise; but what happens if you are not sure and you are given suggestions. I usually go to the Internet.

Hi Courtney,
I would certainly think if you saw any time of error in the system, one should report it.

I also noticed that Grammarly doesn't work in Site Content articles.

You have to use the Spell Checker in Site Content. Thanks for bringing this thought up.

Both platforms have errors at times , but Il ike site content because it allows you to make your own corrections.
