Sunshine...Finally!

Hi there. When we had three children under three years my wife went out to work to support us whilst I went to University, which I did a lot from home. So I believe I know a little about what you are experiencing. It is a case of fitting in the work with the family but on a planned basis. I wrote a couple of blogs here at WA (on my profile) which you may find useful - 1. who else wants to be productive and watch tennis, and 2. how to make every work at home day count good.
Hope these help but if you need any more please just ask
Regards
Hudson.
Hey there,
Are you in Summit County Ohio? We live in Akron. :-) Isn't it nice to have some warmth finally?!
I have to block my time with purpose...this two hours, I will write. This twenty minutes, I'll respond to WA notices. This half hour, I will research my keywords. This few minutes I will look over today's Bootcamp training, so that I can know what I need to do with the other blocks of time I'll have today.
During all of that, everything else has to stay off...no Facebook, no emails, no phone, no TV. All of those are just distractions from accomplishing everything I need to do. (And they will suck you in! Especially Facebook or Pinterest! ;-)
But still, I feel frustrated and guilty that I'm not doing enough online....then frustrated and guilty that I'm not spending enough time with my kiddo, if I take a few minutes to write a blog while she's entertaining herself.
I think each day is a balance you need to redefine, but having set goals for your blocks of time and making sure you don't distract yourself helps you at least make progress each day. None of the "I'll just check my email to delete the junk really quick.....no you won't! You'll get sucked in! :-) (Speaking from Master-levels of experience here.)
Thanks for posting!
Actually I am in Summit County, Colorado. You are right about being distracted about anything and everything. Nap time is usually time to do all the things that I can't get done when he is up and my other two are home from school. It sounds like a good idea to block time and plan exactly what I am going to do with it and actually do it.
Thanks for the advice.
Oh that's interesting. We've had nothing but gloomy, cold days with snow or rain for a couple weeks in Summit County, Ohio. Then yesterday we got some sun and alomst hit 50...today is bright and beautiful and mid- to upper 60's. It's *so* refreshing and wonderful!
Yeah, working from home is hard, because we have so many "jobs"--WA/online business stuff, housework, chef, kid stuff...it's really hard to not get called away by one or more of those things, and going to a coffeehouse to work isn't really an option with a little one in tow. I'm still working on figuring it out, but am getting better with my blocks of time. :-)
