Throwing spaghetti on the wall.
See if it sticks
What! You haven't heard of that one? When cooking spaghetti, one way to check to see if it's done is to throw a spaghetti noodle on the wall. If it's done, it will stick to the wall. Yeah, it's kind of messy, but it works. I learned this one from watching "The Big Chill', one of my favorite movies. All of that wonderful starchy goodness adheres very nicely to the wall when it's cooked to that just right point, a nice al-dente.
But I can't throw a website on the wall...
One of the things I've been pondering as I go through the lessons and reading the many posts is how will I be able to tell if my site is 'done' and ready to launch? There are those who will say that all sites are continuing works in progress. They are never truly done. There are always new posts, updates, changes.
For those of us who like to get things 'right', what ever that means, the thought of being done is a bit more daunting. I want to get this right. I want my site to be successful. I want it to monetize - ideally quickly. I don't want to get caught in the trap of wanting it to be perfect and continuing to tweek it so that it is 'just right' forever and never released. So how do I know it's ready to launch?
I'm not entirely sure...yet. I know it's not there. But I know that it will be in the near future. I look forward to that satisfying feeling to pull up the site, and like a beautiful plate of spaghetti enjoying the satisfaction of creating something that is bold and delicious.
May the spaghetti stick to all of our walls soon. Have a blessed day.

We are in a venture where there is no end to it.
Once you launch it and it goes live, meaning once its published, you will have to continuously nurture it.
OK by nurturing I mean you will create contents, write articles and blogs to make your site interesting to get more traffic. And this will continue as long as your site is live.
All the best.
Cheers!
Jasper
I would say a site is never done Christine. There is always something new you can add.
I launch my sites as soon as they have the initial information I want to impart on them.
From that point I start to add affiliate products and carry on building the site out.

Thanks for sharing the insight, Derek! Appreciate your taking time.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Great post, Christine. I’ve never thrown spaghetti against the wall, but I do remember it being thrown in “The Odd Couple”. What a mess!
You are doing great, keep it up!

It certainly livens up a party! Thanks for the kind words, Virginia! Have a wonderful weekend!

Great post Christine. Love the image. I love your style of writing with wit and humor. We need more of that at WA. Now I am going to run to the pizza shop up the street and get me some 'sketti and garlic bread. Have a great weekend.
Talk to you in the morning.

I love your wish that all of our walls be covered in spaghetti!! That is great.
I laughed out loud at that.
I bet your website is close to being "ready" since you will have to continually work on it to keep it active and therefore getting and keeping a good rank on Google and other search engines. Keep in mind that most people don't stumble on most new websites anyway.
It is better to get it "active" immediately and then continue to add and tweak over time so you are getting time in for Google's sake. Some people buy domains and "let them age" for a year before doing much with them. There is likely no reason for you to wait any longer. If you don't want people looking at it yet, just don't share the link. If you don't request comments (which is great for ranking) or share the link then you likely won't see a lot of traffic early on anyway. It will be "aging" however, like a great bottle of wine to go with your spaghetti!

Wonderful tips. Thank you, Jessica!!!!! Will be ready to pour a glass of vino soon!

Excellent points Jessica. I got my main site up and maybe 1 % of my content added (which is already written) and am getting traffic already. Must be a catchy domain name. Don't you just love Christine's posts. The Oz one is totally awesome.
