Pages, posts, and all that jazz!

Early in our training here at WA, we are instructed to set up pages and posts on our websites. This can be confusing because, basically, they are the same thing - content providing information. So, what is the difference and why do we use both?

Content that we put on a post needs to be catchy and not too long. Think about it this way. When you're driving along, you don't have time to read the billboards and so the advertising companies rely on using the correct images to catch attention. If they can do that, then the next time we see the billboard, we're more likely to stop to read what it says. That's how posts work. They are designed to catch the traffic, the attention of the reader. In our posts, we will add a link which will take the reader to a review page, or any other page that we want to direct them to, giving them more information. The page will naturally be longer than the post. the reader is wanting more - give them more here.

Later, when our websites are established with pages and posts and we begin to,apply for affiliate opportunities, we begin to see the advantage of having both. At the start, we naturally want to know where all of this instruction is heading, how the lessons relate to and whether or not we've got it right.

My experience here at WA has taught me not to think the training through too much but to just do it. I then understand why Kyle trains in the way that he does. It's good to ask questions when we don't understand things clearly. However, if I think things through too much I find it holds me back from progressing as quickly as might. Therefore, even though I often don't quite understand, I just do it anyway. I'm then able to see how it fits together andmove on at a quicker pace with more confidence that I'll get it eventually. Of course, it's good to ask questions. As Kyle says, there's no need to be stuck here at WA.

So, whether pages or posts, the important thing early on is to write, write, andwrite. As we progress in our learning it will all come together in the end!

Claire you're forgetting one very important function and the difference between Posts and Pages and that is you can Categorize Posts so that you can have different aspects of your Niche together rather than have them under any old heading.
Nice blog though and keep it up, you're doing well.

Very good words of wisdom, Claire. I especially like the part about short catchy posts. When a post gets too long, I just kind of gloss over it to see if maybe I'm interested. Good Post, Claire.

Thanks Larry : )

Thank you Claire, this made things more clear for sure.

You're welcome. Glad it helped : )

Well said and yes we must keep on writing
