How do you unpublish a blog so it's not active? I need to revamp my blog and don't want it to show while I am. Can I pull it down temporarily?
Log into your site dashboard by going to Websites and clicking on Login for the site you want to log into. You might have to click on Login again next to the user you want to login as if you have multiple users defined for that site. Once there go to Posts or Pages depending on which you want to edit then click on the title of the page or post to edit it. In the Publish section change the status to something else like Pending Approval or Draft and then on Update yo save that status. It’s now unpublished.
Hi Gail,
I have never put the post on "private", not sure on how to do that. But this might seem a little cumbersome, but first cut and paste it to Site Content.
I do the editing and before I "re-publish" it, delete the post still in WordPress, then publish it from Site Content.
Then I go through the post for any final editing and touch up. This is probably a little on the laborious side but it has worked for me without losing anything.
I hope this helps.

You may lose your permalink and with it any SEO ranking by using this method. It's better to switch to Draft mode and make your edits within your WordPress dashboard.
Thank you, Marion. That is what I'm trying to avoid but if I have too. Wish Wordpress allowed for putting blog unpublished while you revise it. Oh well, just got to work around it. Best, Tiger
Draft mode means it's temprarily unpublished and no one can see it except you until you publish it again. Go to Posts > All Posts > Quick Edit and change the status to Draft then save the changes.
I've always read not to delete published blogs. I did that and got error messages.
Try going into your dashboard and go to that specific blog. Go to edit and make it private. You can edit it while it's in "private mode".
Hope that helps.

I don't want to delete it. I want to revise it but don't want it seen till I do so. That would stink. Can it be done? I'm searching.
If you constructed it in site content you would have a draft copy there. But as others have said, you can edit it in WordPress and make it a draft copy. Personally I would just make the changes and update it. jim

Thank you, everyone, for your help! That is why I love being here. Help when I need it. Makes you feel less alone in doing this.
