How Reading Other WA Posts Has Improved My Own Work

Over the last few months, something has become clear to me. I have actually learned a lot of things just by reading some of the other posts that other members share here at WA.
Before, I always concentrated on what I was doing only, and I only checked other activity out casually, just to see what people were up to. But the more I read things from other people, the more I realised how much it was helping me with my own work.
The first thing it seemed to do was to give me ideas. I dont mean ideas just to copy down, but ideas that made me think, “Maybe I should look at that as well,” or “That reminds me of something I have not done yet”
Sometimes it was a simple thing that someone asked. Another time it was seeing someone talk about their progress or something they were struggling with. It certainly reminded me that I was not the only one hitting obstacles now and again.
All of it helped me move forward.
Another thing I noticed from reading other posts was seeing different peoples writing styles. Everyone here writes differently. Some people keep things short and some of you write longer posts with lots of detail in them.
Some of you explain things in a simple way, and others are more technical. When you see all these styles, you start to notice what you like, what you dont, and what feels comfortable for your own writing.

Bit by bit, I think this helps you with your own writing style.
I also found that reading other posts on the platform made me more aware of what readers might want from my own content. If I read a post and found myself getting bored or confused, I paid attention as to why. Was it boring? Too long? And when I read something that kept me interested, I asked myself what made it do that.
This again helped me improve my own writing..

Something else that surprised me is how often someone elses update gives me a little bit of encouragement. When I see some of you hitting targets, fixing something on your sites, learning something new, or just getting through a difficult day, it gives me that little push to keep going as well.
It is a good reminder that we are all building something here, at our own pace, and no one is doing it perfectly.
Reading WA posts also makes you feel more involved in the community. Even if you are not commenting every day, just seeing what others are up to helps you stay in the loop a little more.
We all have busy days, or days where we are not sure what to do next. So seeing others share their own ups and downs makes the whole process feel a lot less like you are on your own.
So if you have not spent much time reading other members’ posts, I recommend that you set a little time aside to do it. Because the simple, everyday things you can learn from seeing how people think and write can really help you.
How about you? Do you read WA posts often, and has it helped you in your own work in any way?
Thanks for reading
Chris
