A Little Reminder To Not Give Up Or Get Disappointed Too Quickly
I just wanted to share a small experience from the last few days with you all that reminded me how easy it is to get discouraged and hacked off too quickly.
It is the first time it has happened to me in a while... and I kinda surprised myself too lol
I recently applied for an affiliate program that I planned to write about anyway. While I was in the middle of writing the review, I received an email saying my application had been rejected. I wonβt lie, I was not ready for that. I mean I feel my website is in a good place, it has some traffic, many page 1 keyword rankings.
What the hell?? Maybe the person that looked at my application didnt like their Christmas dinner, or it was raining outside... I had no clue!!
It has happened to me in the past too on a different website, and it was early days and I also remember on that occasion how I felt. Its very easy to feel disappointed and assume its the end of the road.
But, instead of reacting badly, I replied politely, thanked them for the response, and asked if there was a reason for the rejection so I could mention it honestly within my review. Yeah, I was going to post it regardless, after all I spent a good few hours putting it all together.
Strangely enough, a few days later, I received a reply explaining that the rejection was actually a technical issue on their side. My account had actually been approved, and everything was set up properly.
Was this the entire truth, or was it a mistake? I guess I will never know. The important thing is, in the end, it went my way!
That small moment reminded me of something really important.
Things donβt always go the way you expect at first, and it is really easy to take setbacks personally. But sometimes it can be just a temporary obstacle, not a final answer.
If I had walked away straight away, or sent a badly worded email, I would have missed what came next.
So if something doesnt work out immediately for you, dont assume its all over. Take a breath, dust yourself off, and keep moving. You never really know whatβs just around the corner.
Thanks for reading
Chris

Great outcome - yes, always a good idea not to react too quickly when upset. But it's often easier said than done. You did well...
Yeah it is a normal reaction when you are disappointed I think it is important sometimes to sit on your hands and cool off first...
Yes, it is always good and wise to reply. Often responses to us are automatic or they didn't really look things over.
Well done Chris and a great lesson for WA members.

Congrats on the positive outcome. It shows the a positive attitude tied with patience pays off. Although disappointed, you didn't let said disappointment affect your response, which remained professional despite the apparent negative circumstances. Well done. Cheers ^_^

I thoroughly enjoyed your approach to that.

Many affiliate projects have automated rejection emails.
And yes, sometimes they can be temporary obstacles rather than final answers.
Well done Chris π
