Back to Work, to a New Normal

Tomorrow I start working again. I mean, not that I haven't worked in all these past months. Like all of you, I took advantage of the social isolation and dove right into working on my websites, taking training, and doing other things that are important for my websites, keeping me busy over 10 hours a day.

So, now that school starts again, I am wondering, how am I going to fit my classes into my WA schedule? I am soooo used to focusing only on my websites, social media, and my books, and I love it! I mean, I also love teaching, but I am not my own boss there ... although I am the boss in the classroom, hehe ;-) but you know what I mean :-)

Last week I had to go to school for three consecutive days, for workshops and meetings, and it messed up all the activities I had planned, like YouTube videos, new articles, book promos, etc, and I got behind on my schedule.

I am grateful, though, that I have a job and that I can teach my classes from home; classes are online, and I teach four days a week, only from 11 to 2 and one day from 12 to 3 - our hours were reduced because we are teaching online, and we have to fit in all the classes and teachers.

So, tomorrow I am meeting my new students online. I have met some of them in school on an induction day, so that we could at least see each other and introduce ourselves briefly, but they are still new to me, fresh 7th graders ;-)

I can imagine that many of you are going back to the new normal or have already gone back to it. How have you adapted with your work on your websites? Are you assigning yourself fewer tasks every week or day? I write my weekly goals, so I am thinking of planning less website work on schooldays, and creating pins for Pinterest definitely on non-school days, because it takes time to make pins on Canva (for me it does).

I worked very hard today and yesterday, to make up for the time I could not work on my websites these last days and to finish all the goals I had set for this week. I am missing two, but I will plan them in for tomorrow.

Time to eat now, as usual, after writing a blog post ;-) All that writing makes me hungry :-)

Thank you, Dorrie! I'm glad that the new school schedule is working out for your son :-)

Hey Christine,

One good thing about teaching online is you don't have to wear a mask..

Have a successful school year.

Best regards,
Maxine

I know, no mask! Yay! At least we can see each other's expressions online ;-)

It is important to remember to eat. I can get so involved I forget. Then suddenly it's bedtime and I realize I forgot to eat supper. Not good.

Your situation sounds very challenging. Good luck with your new schedule.

Thank you! I will work something out :-)

That must be so stressful. I'd love to hear if you find a good schedule. I generally do my writing all day, and my class in the evening, unless I get done with writing early. Is it fun to make pins? I have never delved into that part of pinterest.

I'm not stressed, ... yet, ;-) That may come once all the extra school work begins ;-) we'll see
It's fun creating pins, I use canva. Jay explains it in his pinterest webinars and they helped me a lot. You can get very creative with canva, but it takes me a while, especially when I am making multiple pins at once :-) They look nice, though, and attract more visitors.
