Quora- Helping Others Leads to Traffic
I caught on to Quora when I was reading someone else' blog post. On this post, this individual claimed to see massive traffic increases from one answer on Quora.
At first, I was skeptical (as I usuallly am when anyone claims massive increase in traffic from one source), so I decided to experiment with it myself.
All of my traffic to my teacher resources website is free traffic. And up to this point, Pinterest has been my biggest source of traffic (Pinterest is teacher crack).
And as you know, free traffic is slow because you have to build trust.
So, when I learn about another free traffic source, I want to check it out myself.
Check this out-
When I first created an account on Quora, I was only getting around 50 views on an answer
After a couple of days, I tweaked my profile and started to answer more questions.
I decided to write my answers like I would write a post on my website- longer post with added value and links back to my website.
After submitting my third answer, I saw a crazy increase in the amount of views that I received on my answers.
Also, I saw an increase in the number of upvotes.
Finally, I saw a huge increase in the amount of traffic I was getting from Quora.
How big an increase?
My answers went from around 50 views total to 400/ day.
And it grew even more since then.
Today-
I average over 2,000 views a month!
Even better-
I receive requests for answers every day.
Now, 30% of my referral traffic comes from Quora.
What caused this change?
Ultimately, I realized that this increase came from my answers themselves.
At first, my answers were focused on the content. After realizing that this wasn't working, I changed my focus on my audience.
Now, my answers are more personal. I relate more to my audience. I share more personal stories. Most of all, I'm more myself. I use my voice and share my experience.
I focus on sharing what I know so I can help others.
Quora is more than just a source of information. It's a social platform. People can upvote your answer. People can follow you. People can request answers from you.
The more you interact with others on Quora, the more they trust your answers.
The more they trust your answers, the more they trust your posts on your website.
So, if you focus on helping others on Quora, you will increase the traffic to your website.
I don't even link to my website in some answers anymore. I simply share my website URL in my profile.
By making my answers about my audience, I gain their trust. Then, they view my profile. Finally, they view my website.
I don't have to hit them over the head with links.
I just have to be myself. Be personable. And, be helpful.
It's true-
Gain their trust and they will come to you for more help.

Great post, Chris! Has this increase in traffic also been bringing conversions? It sounds like a great platform to gain traffic and converse with others. I am not very familiar with it. How long have you been using it?
Erin :)!
Yes, it does bring conversions. I've found that my followers on Quora have become followers on my website, especially those asking questions.
I've only been on Quora for two months, but I've only implemented the new changes in the last month.
My next move is to write a post on my website using keywords based on the questions that I've been requested to answer. To me, this is responding to a real, felt need.
