Connecting With Your Audience- It's the Way to Succeed

I've been doing a little research into content creation, and I have noticed something. All of these "experts" talk about the latest gimmick to grab your audience's attention. I mean, it makes sense that you want to attract people to your website. Even more, you want to keep them coming back.

You want to build that level of trust, so that when you suggest a product they want to buy it. Yet, I think that any website is doomed to fail if all it focuses on is making money. If that's your focus, then you're disconnected from your audience. And, that's a real turn-off.

Instead, I suggest not listening to these so-called gurus. No, your focus shouldn't be on the latest gimmick. I would even go as far as to say that you shouldn't even focus on your content.

So, what should you focus on? You should focus on your audience. You need to connect with them on a personal level.

Yes, SEO is important. It gets you ranked. It draws traffic to your website.

Yet, you could have all of the traffic in the world, but if you don't connect with them they won't stay.

Yes, a clean-looking post is important, too. But, I don't think that it's as important as knowing your audience and speaking to them.

Going deeper, it's not as important as that deep connection with your audience. It's not as important as solving a problem they have or answering a question at the back of their minds that they might not even know they have.

To get to that level, you really need to know your audience. Honestly, I feel that before you research keywords related to your niche, you need to do your homework on your intended audience.

What makes them tick? If you can connect with them, then you've succeeded. They'll want to hear what you have to say. More importantly, they'll want to follow your suggestions, which means they'll buy the products you suggest.

So, instead of listening to the gurus, follow the example of advertising experts who know how to connect with an audience. You have a favorite commercial because you connected with it.

And how did they get to that level of success, by knowing their audience and designing an add that connects.

That's what you need to create: content that connects. If you can do that, then you'll see your numbers increase. You'll see more traffic. You'll see more returning visitors. Ultimately, you'll see more money in your pocket.

You want to make that happen? Then, focus on your audience and write content that speaks directly to their felt need. It's not some faceless crowd that your writing for. It's real people with real concerns looking for real solutions.

Find that, and you'll success. That's just a little of what I've noticed as I've been reading up on building your audience.

WOW! Impressive, inspiring, full of truth & wisdom. Chris, you hit a walk-off Grand Slam in the bottom of the ninth of the seventh game of the World Series.

Bob

Great analogy. I'm a huge baseball fan, especially the Houston Astros and the Texas Rangers! In addition to teaching high school and college English, I'm a high school coach, and baseball is my favorite sport to coach.

Maybe you could guess, I'm a Cubs diehard, since 1947. Sixty-nine years of long-suffering until 2016. It would be great to see the Astros & Cubs in the world Series.

How did your high school team do this year?

Bob

We took second in district and went through to the second round of the state playoffs. It's how we've done the last two years since I took over the team. Before that, they hadn't won a game in 5 years.

Sounds like the story many Cubs managers would express. I will take a possible line from Earnie Banks if he were around, "Your team will do fine in 20 ... one-nine.

Have a blessed evening.

Bob

Hi Chris
A big like for this inspiring post. I like what you said especially this:
You should focus on your audience. You need to connect with them on a personal level. I totally agree with you that you could have a lot of audience but if you don't connect with them they won't stay.
Wishing you great success in your business
Rania

Thank you. Actually, the inspiration for this post came to me while teaching a college creative writing class. I was talking to my class about following the example of the advertising when trying to connect to your audience through a short story. I then connected to content writing.

Awesome post and very true.

Content that our audiences can connect with creates results, thanks for sharing your thoughts Chris.

Nice post, Chris!
