Happy National Ice Cream Day - Sunday 20th July!
Hey one and all,
Just a quick check in to sprinkle a little sweetness across the WA community with a delicious reminder: every year, the third Sunday in July β this year falling on July 20th β is National Ice Cream Day!
Originally proclaimed by President Ronald Reagan way back in 1984, National Ice Cream Day was created to celebrate one of the worldβs most loved treats β ICE CREAM!!! President Reagan's official proclamation described ice cream as βa nutritious and wholesome foodβ (we'll happily take that as permission to have even more!).
Since that proclamation, this annual celebration has only grown, and now people all over the globe use the day as an excuse to scoop up their favourite flavours, share a cone with friends, or just take a well-earned moment to chill β literally.
So wherever you are β whether itβs sunshine, rain, or snow β hereβs a scoop of virtual cheer to wish you a very happy and delicious National Ice Cream Day!
May your day be filled with sprinkles, smiles, and maybe a double scoop of something creamy and delicious.
Wishing you all a deliciously sweet Sunday ahead.
Cherie

Wow, when you said "way back in 1984," I suddenly felt old! ππ
I voted for Reagan. This was one of his many great accomplishments. π
Haha, well, 'way back in 1984' is now 41 years ago! Like you, I feel the '80s weren't all that long ago, but alas, time is speeding along.
Totally agree with you, this was indeed one of Pres Reagan's finest moments!
Here's to lots of Ice Cream!

Oooh - I live in the UK but I'm going to make it National Ice-Cream Day here too! Where's that Mr. Whippy van when you need it?
Hi Gail,
"Ice Cream Day in the UK - Though this holiday began in the US, ice creams are a popular treat in the UK. Unilever, the firm behind Walls and Carte D'Or - says that it estimates 12 ice creams are sold every second on average during a UK summer."
So - this originally US holiday has without doubt spread globally and is celebrated in the UK too! Definitely a great excuse (as if we need one) to have more ice cream - US or not!
Yes indeedy, where's that ice cream van when you need it, hey?, lol.
I could give you a recipe or two to make your own... ππ¦π

Haha, okay, so a tad challenged in the kitchen gadgets dept, no worries.
No-churn ice cream doesn't need any fancy gadgets; a mixing bowl, a whisk, a bit of elbow grease, oh, and a sprinkle of patience, and before you know it, you'll have delicious homemade ice cream ready to devour!
Or, go on the lookout for said Ice Cream van!
Well I have a mixing bowl, may have a whisk but will have to go and buy some elbow grease. It's on my shopping list!
Cherie, now Iβm seriously craving ice cream! π
Wishing you a happy National Ice Cream Day too, may your scoop never melt too fast and always come with extra sprinkles!
Hi Jivita,
Sorry if I got you craving ice cream, but then I'm not. Sorry, not sorry! lol
Hoping you're able to get some ice cream to satisfy that craving and enjoy this special day dedicated to the delicious frozen treat that is ice cream!
I have an article about stopping ice cream from melting too fast, haha, there's tricks and tips for that.
Happy scooping!
Cherie

I was just reading Stuart's blog who mentioned having picked blackberries from his garden and having them with ice-cream - of course. So I told him I am going to have ice-cream tonight too - and then I saw your blog about National Ice Cream Day! No need for a National Ice Cream Day to enjoy ice-cream... I can have a 'national ice-cream day every day. π
Hi Isabella,
100% with you, definitely don't need a specific day to enjoy ice cream, but I guess having a day dedicated to it can make us feel a little less guilty! Hmmm, blackberry ice cream, delish π
Wow that nice π
