I am thinking of dismantling my site, which I have had going for a couple of weeks and setting up a new one. Drastic I know, I liked it when I got it going but the more I go into the training and also comment on other sites the more I see it lacking, not least the domain name I chose. You have to fail before you achieve and this process is not a five minute wonder its a journey of development and no matter how painful the enlightenment you sometimes have to go backwards to go forward. I have some great pages I want to transfer will I have to copy and paste or is there a quicker solution? I would rather just change the domain name and work on improvement from there, like changing theme etc, I don't know if that is possible?

The new name I am thinking of is ----website building solutions---- any thoughts welcome

Yes, we often need to fail before we achieve. Most important is not being afraid of failure. Instead we can use it to learn from it and then move forward to increased success. Failing - or making mistakes- is an important part of the exiting success journey.

success is an event which requires process , sometimes the process is frustrating but it is necessary. It will make the event that much sweeter.

Great information. I was thinking the same thing and have not published mine yet because it is lacking

go for it, sometimes 1 step back and many forward

Find if the name is available and register it while at it.

GOT IT :0)

Hi, re: quicker solution than copy and paste?

Under Tools (in the Dashboard column on the left) you will find Export & Import.

Export will download a file from you old site, so that you can then Import, and upload it to your new site.

You can choose what content you want to export Posts, Pages, Contact Forms, etc.

Hope that helps.

many thanks will do

Nice, if it works out for you, can I ask a return favour by 'liking' my solution above. Cheers.

I wouldn't use a domain name with a year attached to it... What happens after the year is over? It makes your site appear to be out dated once the date has passed.

that is one of the reasons for the change, needs to be evergreen!!

This has been my experience with GoDaddy. They can point multiple domain names to one site. And so you can keep what you have and just add another one and then let the one you don't like expire. In the Web address box you can request what name appears. Maybe ask WA tech support if it can be done here. I've done this many times. This is not as drastic of a decision. You can keep your site now if that works.

Also you can go into appearance and then click themes and activate a new theme or upload a theme that you found in Google. Two perspectives here. The internal structure of WP is the same. So it may not be a massive makeover. If the theme is really different then you could still adjust things without losing anything. It's only been a few weeks. Consider trying a less dramatic approach. If it doesn't work then the more drastic option is there.

thanks for input my two domains are with different domain sites one with namecheap my new one with go daddy they are doing 2 years for one could not resist.

http://earnmoneyonline2015.com/ don't expect a lot lol

If you change the domain name then of course you need to start a new site from the very beginning and choose the theme you want from there...

As for your existing site.. the material you are happy with just copy and paste/save somewhere so you can use it on your next site...

It is not a step back for you but a step forward. it is better to realize your direction now than to keep waiting...

Good luck :)

Chris

thanks I will look into it. But as you say, cut and paste, it is something I can do quickly and without to much pain.
