What the niche?!

Ok so I'm a tad worried/frustrated that maybe I didn't choose a good niche, but I REALLY want it to work, so I'm gonna lay out my plan here and hopefully Kyle or Carson or other, more long term premium members will have some input, since no one on the chat really gave me a straight answer.

So like I said in the About Me section, I am OBSESSED with the color green! Not eco friendly stuff, just the color. I'm kinda picky about my color of green but for the sake of my niche I would openly welcome all shades.
So I was thinking I'd do an "All Things Green" niche, where I promote/sell (or whatever) green merchandise/objects. I figured since that's a very broad subject, as just about anything can be green, I' would start with things that are popular and could potentially start making me money now. Such as iPhone cases, Halloween costumes/decor, Thanksgiving decor, Christmas stuff etc. and then gradually just keep adding more and more stuff.

I guess I'm just wondering if this is gonna be too hard for my first niche/website or if it's a terrible idea or what. Any input is greatly appreciated, I just don't wanna get in over my head right off the bat.

Yes, It's a great idea. Green has to do with nature and you can utilize this niche to your advantage. Green is used all year round and it's even the color of our currency in the U.S. Think of products that go along with the color green like emerald pendants, necklaces, and charms. You get the idea. Go for it. Good luck!

Thanks! There's so many different types of green things I honestly hadn't even thought of jewelry yet! I'm starting to think the possibilities are endless!!

Green jewelry is a great idea

I think it is a great idea!!
As long as you catagories it in a good way go with it!!
I would say there are lots more people out there loving green and make your site the "to go" site for them when they do their online shopping!

Best of luck!
Veronica

Thank you so much!! =]

Hi.

Ignore the "naysayers". It's a brilliant niche!

OK, you're named Chelsea, and so you should be obsessed with the colour blue. But, hey, these things happen.

I'd much rather read about your obsessive hunt for green lavatory paper or musings on the search for multi-green rather than multi-grain cereals than most of the dreary rubbish I plough through on a daily basis.

There is so much meaningless emphasis on ranking and traffic. What's so great about being on the first page of Google with the right keyword getting 1,000 hits a second if those visitors spend or do NOTHING? I'd rather have a 1,000 visitors a year who are equally obsessed and come to me for everything green and as a bonus BUY my recommendations. Money's green. What's not to like?

Type the word "green" into Amazon. Work your way through the million+ items they list under that term and give your fellow obsessives your thoughts, opinions and reviews. Affiliate with Amazon, list those products you like and earn commission. Simple.

So, yes, kick-off your site by celebrating those green days, from May Day to St. Patrick to Halloween to Xmas. Then compile a list of Chartreuse cocktails. Does the taste turn you green? Natter about jealousy and envy and provide the perfect companion in a book recommendation. Start fan pages for Team-Kermit vs. Team-Shrek. Let your readers slog it out in the comments. And sell them soft green toys. Sign up to ColourLovers and Pinterest. Let us see socially how green obsessed you really are.

Why not play the eco angle? With products that not only are "green" but coloured green.

Be controversial. Be political. Rave or rage about GreenPeace. Would you date the Incredible Hulk or are you the green-eyed monster? How about Green Giant peas?
For or against?

Oh, and I believe there are millions-and-millions of people out there completely obsessed with the colour pink. It shouldn't be hard to create a site that becomes a rallying point for the minority greens. Go on, take that fight to the hideous pinkos. Tell 'em it's WAR.

I dare you.

Rich. x

NIcely done, my friend!

This has to be the greatest thing I have ever read. I'm slightly in awe. I'm also partially honored to have received such a thought provoking, inspiring and extremely motivational comment. Thank you! =D

It may work for some conditions. I remember once about a local furniture store, for about a two or three year period, that they displayed and sold only black and white designer kitchen, living room, and bedroom items. It was visually very interesting, but I don't know well they ever did business wise?

I'm hoping to do it wisely, it might take some time, but I'm confident I can do it =] Thank you for your input!

Have you seen this training? Maybe it will help you. https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/mastering-the-keyword-research-process

Exactly!

Ah this will help so much! Thank you!!

Some extra help if you need it

"I specialize in keyword research. I can find the perfect keywords for your nice. Sometimes its only one keyword in your niche that you need to make a ton of money. Ive been doing this for five years. If you need any help pls msg me."

just put in the search bar on top '@rileyb78' , whithout the quotation marks and give her a PM!

We're all rootin for ya Chelc!
Cheers

I definitely will! Y'all are so great! =D

Well an idea would be you can have a site that specializes in green things, like you there must many people who have an affection for the color green and things that are green. I wonder how many people are actually searching for green things? You specialize in bringing your passion of the color of green and all that is associated with it together with people searching for green things because they love the color green also! If you do it right you will have many people who are interested in having a look because they have never heard of such a thing as a website devoted to all things green. I know i would. Some key points, be remarkable! Be memorable. Make your site easy for people use and to share. This is where you would like to research the keywords and what people are using to type in the search engines to find green stuff! Use the google instant alphabet soup method, very useful. - Before you commit to the project make sure you feel confident that there is some commercial viability for the niche. You research keywords with modifiers like "buy green' "find green' "product name green" or 'green product name'...so forth and so on. - If nothing else, St. Patricks Day may be a good day for all things green! If the searches are there for many things green and people are like buying things green...this is your first step towards a possibly greener future! After deciding then learn about seo, finding traffic paths, like social and referring sites and associated techniques to bring people to your site!

Thanks so much for your input! I will start researching pronto! =D I really appreciate your help!

I'll go ahead and say it. It's a bad idea.

That's fine, just give me some why's and stuff. Pros, cons, other ideas etc.

Don't mind him... He's being an a**.

Well I don't mind him thinking it's a bad idea, I just want some logical reasoning. I'm all about constructive criticism!

Have you tried putting 'green' into the keyword tool here at wa or jaaxy?

I hadn't until just now. A lot of the things I want to start promoting seems to have decent searches and not too much competition. At least I think, I'm no pro at deciphering the results.

I second that opinion, you go green! Girl

=D Thanks!

I think it sounds like a fun idea for a website and you have to remember that anything ypurpassionate about is worth pursuing. I think that sometimes a broad niche can get frustating because there's so many ideas that it's hard to narrow things down. My advice is this: Stick with your project. There aren't bad niches, but there are complicated ones. Slowly work on your "green" prpject, and while you doo creat a small site in a more targeted niche. This way, you'll have small niche sites working for you as you build your larger authority site. If you need help, let me know. You're doing great, don't panic..

That works, but the only problem is thinking of another niche lol and I'm having trouble wrapping my mind around having a website that doesn't sell stuff. I don't really know enough about anything to be really informative to people.

So then choose something and narrow it down. For example, say you wanted to sell Halloween costumes. Instead of building a Halloween costume website and sell all kinds of Halloween costumes, you narrow down the topic. (Did you read the training about keyword research? Use the Alphabet Soup method to narrow it down.) So, using that method if I type "Halloween" into Google and put an "a" in front of Halloween (without the space) Google gives me a drop down with relevant search terms. This gives you ideas that will narrow down your results. Choose a few ideas you like, and do the keyword research to make sure it's a good keyword. If it is, make a small site that sells that product. Since it's a small narrowed niche, it will be easier to rank and could possibly start making you money faster than your green website. Play around with the keyword tools, google and dmoz.org to find a niche that you like and see what happens. As long as you keep moving forward, you'll be fine. But, definitely don't give up on your green website just because you think it might be harder to rank. Just take a step back, get a game plan together and work on it a little but at a time.
